Suggestions for a LA+1 race and Prestige class for a Druid

Howdy all,

One of my gaming groups is starting over after a TPK. We've decided to all play LA+1 races (or a LA+1 template) and I'm going to be playing a druid. This will be the first time I've been in a game where LA+1 races/templates ere allowed so I'm looking for suggestions/recommendations. There will only be 4 players and right now we have an

Aasimar Artificer
Catfolk Ranger/Rogue
Goliath Fighter/Barbarian
?? Druid

I'm not worried about the effect on spell-casting because we're basically playing levels 1-20 with the race/template as a bonus.

I also haven't played a druid since 2E - and am wondering what prestige classes people have found to be fun. The Master of Many forms looks interesting as does the Planar Shepherd

Its an Eberron Campaign with 60/40 split combat/noncombat encounters. The DM is pretty easy going on item creation/acquisition if you have the cash - but typically we have limited cash.

So any help/suggestions are appreciated.

Best druid prestige class: more levels of druid.


As for templates or races, anything with a +wis or +con would be a good choice.

Lizardman has druid as its favored class, has multiple natural attacks and good NA so a nice compliment for when not in wild shape.

Animorphic Bat from Savage Species.
Basically the template turns the bat into a humanoid shape so you get Bat people.
Why Bat? Bats have a good Wisdom Bonus.

multiclass as wizard or sorcerer (consider aasimar(or even dragonborn aasimar)) and became an arcane hierophant and get a fleshraker as your companion familiar and give it the warbeast template

also take a look at these templates: half fey, half doppelganger, half minotaur, gravetouched ghoul, hooded pupil

Planar Shepherd looks interesting - but which plane in Eberron would be coolest, I have some reading to do.

Where is the half fey template located at - that sounds interesting.
Actually Animorphic bat sounds fun also - I can name him Bruce.

Planar Shepherd is very powerful/broken, check out the handbook on them on wotc's site.

Not sure what LA race to choose. Ideally, something with wis bonus, or at least con. Do not take anything with racial levels. Are +1 LA templates ok? There's a bunch of those. Taking a +1 LA psionic race so you can have a psionic focus and access to psionic feats could be interesting. It's not like Druids have much to do with their feats before level 6.

LA+1 templates are ok but psionics are out - the DM had one too many bad experiences with them.

I'll check out the handbook.

Right now Poison Dusk Lizardfolk is looking interesting as is the Uldra - both from a "these would be cool to play" point of view - which is the whole point of us trying this...

+1LA templates that a Druid might like?

1. Winged
   
2. Feral

One of my faves for a Druid would be Woodling, but that's more than +1LA.

Interesting +0-+1LA races for Druids?

1. Most Planetouched (Genasi, Aasimar, etc.) have some good abilities or resistances.
2. Half-Giant
3. Changeling
4. Shifter
5. Hobgoblin
6. Orc

You might also consider asking what an Awakened animal's LA would be.

And, as I recall, many of the Anthropomorphic Animals have Wis bonuses.
