I really want to play...

I've been wanting to play a former, remorseless assassin whose gotten sick of working for money, and after a come-to-god moment after his last assassination attempt killed a really good man at the behest of a really rotten villian, is now trying to take up the mantle of a paladin - perhaps pretending to be the former paladin to keep the bad guy from moving on his plans.

Another character I've wanted to try is a former druid's animal companion that has been given sentience by an awaken spell, or a natural lycanthrope raised by animals that is released to find his own way in the world.

I want to play a halfling rogue with the style of a Cockney gangster from a Guy Ritchie movie. Three feet fall, broad black hat, with a propensity for threatening innuendo. He travels light, relying on a set of brass knuckles, a dagger, and a few specialty tools. He's not a particularly evil bloke, just professionally callous.

Haha this would be great. I could see a Solomon and Vincent character working particularly well.

I've always wanted to play a character based off of Gogo Yubari. A crazy homicidal fighter who's insanely loyal to another PC. Wielding a Meteorhammer, short sword and complete with a Japanese school girl uniform.

I've got a PDA full of PC designs for 3.XEd, M&M, and HERO, as well as folders of PCs in a variety of RPGs.

Part of that is because I write fantasy/sci-fi fiction, and I tend to stat out my main characters...but all are designed to be playable. It helps me keep my eye on the characters' essential qualities.

And I'd be happy to play any of them.

I've attempted this a few times, but never to my full satisfaction. A lawful good necromancer. Somebody who is completely pure of heart, and risks his life every day for the betterment of mankind... he just happens to do it with zombies. He'd have his travelling companions sign contracts that legally allow him to commandeer their earthly husks should tragedy befall them, and he'd vow only to use them for the duration of their mission. That sort of thing. It's not that I particularly like treading the fine line between good and evil... it's just that I've always thought it was malarky that certain spells are considered 'evil'. You can blow up an entire tribe of orcs with a single fireball, but raise just ooone little zombie to watch over the party as they sleep, and sudden you're a villain?

Oh, also, I've always wanted to play some sort of assassin/illusionist crossbreed. But that's just so I can have 'abra-kastabra!' as a catchphrase.

A Beastmaster ranger with a tiger (bear stats) and a two-handed weapon.

A kalashtar ardent.

A viking-like Valorous bard whose bardic songs are all based on heavy metal ones, who looks like Sven The Returned, from the Northlanders comic book.

I designed one that was a SpecWiz (Necromancer) {Focused}/Shaman (OA). He had IUC, and had TWF with clubs, plus a few levels of Perform (Dance) and Perform (Rhythm Sticks). His spirit guide was an ancestor.

The idea? Voodoo Shaman who knew capoira, and his clubs were escrima sticks that had been textured as rhythm sticks, based on an amalgam of sources like Serpent and the Rainbow, and so forth.

LOL! Or you just make the PC and name him Abraka Stabra!;)

I don't get to play much, as I'm usually the GM, but the PC I have planned is one that's been tickling my brain for the last few months.

Basically, a dwarf that is very un-dwarflike in personality and in his interests. Because of this, he tries to cover up his behaviour by acting particularly dwarfish.

For example, he doesn't like hard alcohol, prefering to drink plain water, but if someone calls him on this, he'll enter a drinking contest - and be the first one out, as he can't handle his spirits. He isn't much of an axe or hammer wielder, preferring to use a shortsword or something. He is mobile and agile and battle, though he describes his technique in very dwarven terms - "I am the hammer that strikes the iron upon an unmoving anvil. And like any hammer, I have to strike quickly, from many angles, to beat the iron into the shape I desire".

He doesn't get seasick, but pretends to when he's on a ship (he actually loves looking at the ocean). He gets just a touch claustrophobic in caves. He finds elves to be pleasant company (but of course doesn't let them know this). He is not much of a craftsman.

His big dwarf trait is that he's incredibly stubborn. If he thinks he's right, he'll stick to his guns, and complain incessantly if someone goes against him.

Oh, and my favourite part - he tells everyone he hates horses. He comes up with all sorts of reasons on why they are the worst animals in the world. He kicks them, but always seems to miss. He curses at them, and comes up with the most demeaning names possible for them. And then, of course, when no one's looking, he feeds them, brushes them, and treats them like children - he absolutely loves horses, and is very ashamed at this fact.

I think he'd be a fun character to play.

So would you plan to have ever have him come "out of the mountain" as it were, at some point? :D

Upon further reflection, that's a lousy PC name and the tagline would be better.

However, I might be tempted to name the PC Dirk Saint-Abbins...as in Dirk St. Abbins.

It is marginally more subtle.

Memories! I once had a 2e bard named Dirk Dagger - and I think he had a title attached to his name (something like "Dirk Dagger, famed explorer and entertainer extraordinaire"). That was a funny character for all of... one session. And then he was just painfully annoying.
