Kudos on making a 5E thread that is worth responding to.

I am sure 5E will follow along with 4E in many ways, but hopefully with more options as I see 3.x was when compared to 2E.

As for planning, yes, I am sure ideas are around, probably in a file folder labeled "Future ideas" that they started in about 1980 with things from then that have never seen the light of day.

No need for me to check out the 5E books now. :(

Some unknown person read an as-yet unconfirmed interview about something that's apt to be years in the future, and made a one-line comment? This is not anything upon which to base decisions or opinions for the future.

Really?!? I thought that's how governments work... :p

It better be way in the future, as I'm still not done with all the stuff they keep putting out! :)

Thought this needed a thread of it's own. No end to the schism, it seems, and no hope of joining a current edition for the foreseeable future if you don't like the cut of 4E's jib.

That is awesome. You already hate 5E. I mean, that is just adorable! Shine on you crazy diamond. Shine on.

5e is going to be different from 4e, so if one dislikes 4e depending on what is changed who knows maybe just maybe what gets changed is what the person disliked about 4e.

Panicky post with erroneous headline based on a hypothetical question posited to one person in an online interview, who offered a completely sensible answer ("It'll evolve in a fashion consistent with the continuity of our existing product line, rather than veering off in a wild direction or turning back the clock 20 years...").

There is no story here. Ignoring the fact that it was a "What if...?" question, how exactly would you respond to that question if you were being interviewed as a representative of Sony?

a) "The Playstation 4 will be radically different to the Playstation 3. We're going in a completely new direction that has nothing in common with the PS3."

b) "We made a big mistake with the PS3. The PS4 is going to have much more in common with the PS2."

c) "There are things we've done well with the PS3, and things we've done less than well. The PS4 will be an evolution from the PS3, where we look to correct some of the mistakes we've made and adopt new technologies."

I can guarantee you that the first two responses would have the company's stockholders (and most customers) in conniptions...

It seems I only like the odd numbered editions (1e, 3e rocked, 2e and 4e not so much for me). So count me as a 5e fanboy!

I highly doubt that they would be putting out nearly a years worth of introductory materials this year if they were gonna dump the system in the near future. It's one thing to tork off the old player base, but something else completely to tork off a brand new customer.
