The Jade Frontier, part 2 (DM: THB, Judge: Lord Sessadore)

The hobgoblin twists away from Chey's attack and lands a potent one of his own, entangling Chey's legs with the flail's chain. With a crack of thunder Miranna cuts at the creature, but he manages to block the blow with his shield. He then attempts to slam the swordmage with his shield, but she dodges effortlessly out of the way.

The door reopens, revealing another small (relative to you) goblin, this one armed with a collection of short spears. He tries to lunge at Miranna through the opening, but she ducks behind the doorway before she can be skewered.

The archer move into position and unleash another volley of arrows, this time wounding Firete and Brenwar.

[sblock=Status]Initiative:
Yishim (22/22)
Firete (20/28)
Cheysuli (22/31, marked by Grunt 64, slowed)
Brenwar (30/35)
Miranna (25/35)
Torturer (-18)
Grunt 64 (Aegised, Cursed)
Warrior 57
Sharpshooter 31
Sharpshooter 57
Sharpshooter 58 (-9)

Grunt's AoO hits AC 26 for 9 damage, and Chey is marked and slowed until the end of his next turn. Except he was Aegised, so that only hits AC 24 (still a hit, of course), but it also triggers Miranna's Aegis of Assault. I assume you'd want to stay where you are so you can keep the flank. Unfortunately, the attack misses.

The Torturer moves to -E,-1. Not that you can see it, because the door is closed. However...[sblock=spoilers!]Someone is going to open the door on their turn.[/sblock]

On his turn, the Grunt attacks Miranna and misses, rolling a mighty 2.

Warrior 57 moves to -C,-1 and opens the door, revealing the Torturer's earlier movement. He then takes a stab at Chey, and even with the cover offered by the corner, hits for 8 damage, which bloodies the tiefling. Nope. The door would be in the way. He could only attack Miranna, but a 19 isn't going to hit her through cover. Sorry little dude.

Sharpshooter 31 moves to -F,4 and misses Miranna. Sharpshooter 57 attacks Firete, hitting AC 29 for 8 damage. Sharpshooter 58 moves to -H,-1 and attacks Brenwar, hitting AC 25 for 5 damage. Rolls.[/sblock]

Miranna focused her attention on the closest foe. Her sword crackled with lightning as she swung and connected solidly- then a sizzling bolt launched itself from the hobgoblin towards the goblin beside it...

OOC:
>attack Grunt 64 with Lightning Clash (encounter); +9 vs. AC= 28, deals 8 lightning damage; rolls Roll Lookup (I presume that hits, triggering a secondary attack). Secondary attack against Warrior 57, +5 vs. REF= 18 (hit?); deals 10 lightning damage if it hits; rolls Roll Lookup
>maintain Aegis on Grunt 64

Mind if I override your mark on grunt 64? I want to give him a -4 penalty to attack. Then you could go ahead and mark warrior 57.

Chey grimaces as the goblins chain flies at her legs, she focuses the pain and anger she feels on the goblin grunt; her eyes boring into its, and releases another blast of green flame into it's face screaming, "DIE!!"
Then, rather than struggling to escape the entanglement she simply disappears, only to reappear behind Brenwar in a burst of autumn leaves that remain swirling about her as though she stood in an autumn maelstrom.

Stepping into the swirling leaves Chey left, Brenwar swings his hammer in a wide arc. His hammer bursts into radiant flames startling the creature enough that it drops its defenses. Brenwar takes full advantage of this, with his hammer connecting solidly with the creature's wide snout.
