[Adventure] A Boy and His Dog (DM: stonegod; Judge: r1)

Lhavarr checks over his wounds as hear's the large woman's tall tails. Finding them relatively minor, the half-elf wipes off his blade and moves back into position.

As the group rests and listens (or tries not to) Torqua's tale, the dog emerges from the tunnel they entered from. It sniffs around warily, but then barks sharply when it sees the others. It splashes through the muck, dancing excitedly a moment, before padding over to one of the side tunnels from the main chamber. It spins in circles expectantly.

"That, I guess, is the signal we've been looking for," Johanna said brightly. "Keep up with the story, but let's walk while we hear it," she added, as she took up her spear and headed towards the tunnel that the dog was pointing at...

Sapo Toa listen intently to what Torqua tells. As she finish up the lengthy description of the meal, the toad humanoid says "So you were slim before then yes? Food in all that much quantities swells the body, makes you fat. At least I have heard such tales be true for mammals."

"Well, food does help, but this behemoth is due to a magical gift/curse thing I got when I saved an old man from a band of terrible thugs." Torqua explains, patting her huge stomach. "I'll tell you about it sometime."

"Oh, right."
The fat sorceress says, hurrying to keep up. "Anyway, after dinner, Lord Losador asked me personaly to save his city from a terrible drought that would doom his people unless someone stopped it. So Bold as Brass, me and a few others marched out into the desert to find out what went wrong. For 3 days we marched on foot through the boiling hot days and the bone chilling nights. It was only through great willpower that I was able to lead to group through the desert to safety, or so we thought...."

OOC: I noticed 2 errors. One, Elkrysn should be at 22/22, not 2/22. Two, and I'm not sure why this wasn't caught earlier, but Sapo has 28 max hp, not 20.

Elkrysn is too engrossed in Torqua's story to notice the dog's appearance. Nonetheless, he joins the group following the canine, even if only because the tale is going with it.

Lhavarr follows the dog as well. The smell down here is quite rank. Of the things I left behind, one wouldn't think I be slogging through this. It's better than a dark cell or gutter though. The bardent's thoughts and emotions begin to filter through to his allies, making them feel a big disgusted at the sludge they were walking through.

"After three days of marching under of skin peelingly hot sun, we finally found the city's water supply, an Oasis. But much to my party's dispare, the oasis had been completely drained of water. Our only clues were a small hole in the middle of dryed lake and skeletons of the Lord's slain royal scouts, killed by some HORRID thing. Then from out of the ground they came. A horde of giant vile man-eating insect monsters, each the size of a horse with poisonous daggers for fangs! And for every one of these monsters, there were two giant pus-swollen maggots that could spit acid farther than an elf could shoot an arrow! With an unholy, evil fury they charged us! " Torqua continues to boast as she follows the others.

"But that had not counted on my arcane might! It was through
my bravery and power that the day was won. With bolts of acid and magical shockwaves, I destroyed the horrors from below and with a mighty breath of fire, I turned their remains into ash.
But it was only we ascended down the hole and into the hive did our troubles really start....."

The group ventures deeper into the tunnels, Torqua's story keeping them company. As they do so, things get... odder. Calcified growths in the sewage become more prevalent, sometimes taking on a fleshy tone. Johanna pokes one experimentally and it gives, like softened leather. Occasionally, an odd white fluid runs through the sewage which everyone does their best to avoid out of a feeling of otherness; the dog leaps away whenever it comes near. The mutt in general seems out of sorts.

Some time later, maybe ten or fifteen minutes, maybe closer to an hour, Sapo believes she hears something ahead. A scraping noise and maybe... mumbling?
