Hey all,

The hosts of Chronicles: The Pathfinder Podcast (Azmyth, Mark and I) all attended Gencon this past weekend and had a great time. While Azmyth and I were busy running Pathfinder Society, Mark was tasked with recording the major Paizo / Pathfinder oriented seminars given at Gencon 2010.

Mark has recorded Paizo Publishing Future of Paizo with Erik Mona and Lisa Stevens as well as the Pathfinder Brand Seminar + and Q and A session, with Erik Mona, James Jacobs, Wes Schneider, Rob Mcreary and Sean K. Reynolds -- both of which were held on the afternoon of Thursday, Aug 6, 2010 at Gencon Indy.

We used the “Mikey” to record the sessions, which is an iPod add-on manufactured by Blue, a pro audio company. We weren’t sure how the quality would turn out. I just managed to get the files on to a readable format and the sound quality is, in a word, awesome.

We will be releasing the full recordings of both of these awesome seminars as part of a GenCon 2010 special episode of the Chronicles: Pathfinder Podcast later this week. I expect we will get the special edition up for download as soon as Azmyth gets back home and has a chance to clean up the recording a little and get it bundled up for iTunes.

Short strokes: if you were unable to attend Gencon 2010, or – if you were at Gencon Indy but were unable to attend the seminars - fear not. We’ve got it all for you in CD Quality 128 bit, 44.1 kHz and you’ll have those recordings in your hands and on your .mp3 players a little later in the week.

We’ll post the download link here later in the week, or you can simply go on to iTunes and subscribe to Chronicles: Pathfinder Podcast and your iTunes will grab them for you as soon as they are posted.

Thanks to Paizo for a great Gencon 2010 and we’re all looking forward to PaizoCon 2011!

Continue to love the podcasts, Steel Wind.

Will future episodes de-constructs the AP, either in terms of discussing a specific AP, or generally discussing APs conceptually?

How about a Top 5 Paizo adventures (including Dungeon, 3.5, and Pathfinder mods)?

A great listen...

Thanks for the kind words.

As for future episodes, our immediate plans underwent some changes as a result of Gencon and listener feedback received at Indy.

A lot of listeners indicated they were interested in hearing about Council of Thieves, but there seemed to be a lot more immediate interest in hearing about Kingmaker *RIGHT NOW*, too. This is especially so given that the sixth volume of Kingmaker was released at Gencon and some GMs who had deferred running the Kingmaker campaign until it was complete are now chomping at the bit to get started.

It’s always about the “new thing”, rarely about the old thing. And right now, Kingmaker is new and Council of Thieves is “old.”

So what we plan to do is cover each of the six volumes of Council of Thieves and the six volumes of Kingmaker in alternating “Adventure Path” episodes of the podcast. So we’ll do Bastards of Erebus (CoT #1) in one episode, then a stand alone module in the next episode, then Stolen Lands (Kingmaker #1) in the next episode, then another stand alone module, then Six-Fold Trial (Cot #2), another stand alone, back to Kingmaker #2... You get the idea.

The reason we don't want to do all 6 volumes of an Adventure Path one after the other like we did with the Price of Immortality Trilogy relates to the speed of our own Adventure Path based home campaigns. Reading the module with a reviewer’s eye while looking for continuity and XP issues is helpful to listeners; however, we believe listeners appreciate the additional insight that personal experience provides when running and playing the module. In order to get that personal experience some listeners value, we need the time to progress in our Council of Thieves and Kingmaker campaigns (of which there are 2 of each currently underway among the hosts).

Alternating Council of Thieves and Kingmaker reviews every other episode allows us to do both in a more timely fashion, while still giving us enough time to finish running them. At least -- that’s the hope, We’ll see how it works out in practice.

With respect to the specific question – we plan to devote an episode to each volume in a given AP. So there will be six episodes devoted to Council of Thieves and six to Kingmaker. If we find that’s too much time spent on just one AP, we’ll adjust our plans and trim them.

How about a Top 5 Paizo adventures (including Dungeon, 3.5, and Pathfinder mods)?
Hmm. Not a bad idea, but I think we’ll have to leave something like that into our second year at least. I’m not sure our collective opinions on that subject right now are sufficiently informed – or at least as informed as they could (and should) be before we try something like that.

Glad to hear we might get to hear some Kingmaker podcasts sooner than later. My Kingmaker campaign is starting up in September and am looking forward to the in-depth discussion on it as you folks go.

Please note that Episode #05 of Chronicles: Pathfinder Podcast, the Gencon/Paizo Seminar Sepcial is available NOW for download here:

http://www.justiceradio.net/podcast/

The podcast features both the Paizo "Road Ahead" Seminar hosted by Lisa Stevens and Erik Mona as well as the "Pathfinder Brand" Seminar featuring Erik Mona, James Jacobs, F. Wes Schenider, Rob McReary, and Sean K. Reynolds.

Together with our own "Gencon Tales" intro, the podcast weighs in at a VERY hefty length of almost four hours.

Thanks! It was nice to be able to listen to some of the Paizo sessions from GenCon for those of us unable to make the show this year.
