[3.5] Destroy Lorwyn! (Evil Campaign) (Recruiting)

Houserules are up. I don't have any for my RL group, but thought I'd try it out for PbP. We can talk about changing them if you don't like them.

if there is a spot i'd like to be considered probably sorceror going sandshaper via Sandstorm if that is viable, i believe eventually ends up as a lich which fits in., not sure on race, but thinkin elan might be cool.

walker in the waste was what i'm thinkin of.

I'd like to change my idea to catfolk (races of wild) ranger going ranged.

Anyone have any suggestions on either tradin away animal companion or a good option for it? (lookin for flying mount if possible)

I think PHB2, Unearthed Arcana, and Complete Champion have ranger variants. Might be something there.

Advancing ? I used 3,5 manual and it is written that as cohorts quasits equal ECL 6.

I could propose Upper Krust's, "Ascension" rules for the advancement of outsiders. If You wish I could send You the excerpts about the advancing. Basically it is done as such: You double outsider's HD to get ECL, and every 5 HD You get bonuses to stats, special ability and the usual. Things go crazy once You hit 10 HD as it marks Your demon as stepping up into the demonic "nobility" (By Upper Krust's rules) with Balors as landlords who stand at the bottom of demonic lordship, Queen of Chaos standing at the top ... och, she's deposed. :p

I plan to capitalize on Quasit's Bluff, Sense Motives and Spot for negotiating missions. And minuscule hand-crossbow with magical case creating bolts from ice made of his venom. For hardcore ... diplomacy.

Thus ... is our Big Boss a unique fiend ? What is the secret of it's sucesses ? Perhaps it have brain and is a thinking entity ? Maybe, Abyss forbids, isn't acting evil for evil's sake and rewards capable people for loyalty ?!

Chandra is an Erinyes. She's exceptionally smart for her race and has a surreal knack for seeing the big picture in battle, always calm and confident. Her tactical genius easily rivals mariliths. Since you've worked under her already, you know that she also has telepathy.

Her secret to success is a bit of a mystery and her superiors are baffled / distrustful of just how good she is at what she does. She started her career ten years ago as a minor devil and then climbed up the ranks in a hurry after proving herself time and time again during the war. She's lawful, as devils are, and does indeed reward loyalty, but doesn't hesitate to crush traitors or failures.

The quasit sounds good. In this nation of cobbled together races and fiends, demons and devils can work together, though some may harbor subtle animosity. I'd like to see the excerpts if you can send it to me but it sounds fine.

i do have a question going with a ranger bounty hunter type.

would elves and humans be good candidates for Favored enemy?

how does str 14, dex 16, con 14, int 14 , wis 12, cha 8 sound before racials as probable stats

Good candidates. The stats look good too.

No crunch yet, but I've come up with a basic concept. While this character isn't entirely bestial, he derives pleasure in using the might of the souls of all creatures to place himself above them, hence the totemist class. As a Goliath, he was a former slave who was taken in after slaying his master and was put to work entertaining crowds by fighting against whatever they threw at him.

After a time, he was rewarded for his efforts by being forced to undergo a ritual which imbued him with the traits of the dragon(Dragonborn template), in recognition of his bravery(because he never once flinched from his opponents). At some point earlier in her career, Chandra spotted this character, and bought his freedom, placing him in her debt. My character, now 'free' is fanatically loyal, and would likely be prone to killing someone who spoke ill of Chandra in his presence, should he feel it easily in his capability... and for his loyalty, Chandra rewarded him further, hardening his skin to be more like the stone he once resembled... (Mineral Warrior/Stony devil template). This only solidified his loyalty as he recognized that Chandra was not quite like many other devils he'd dealt with... and so he was proud to serve as her general on the field of battle.

Is this basic concept alright?

Oho, I "hate" her already.^^
But she could be good figurehead for Skoll's BIG PLAN OF DOMINATION. I can see easily why demons might follow her, since with them it is always combination of strenght and inteligence what rules. Those only strong are outsmarted, those only smart are eaten ...

Yeah, to lead demon You should make it believe that You are clearly superior in every way. Of course Skoll isn't Your typical quasit, since he have B, I, G PLAN. ;)

These are traits that Skoll, as a humble genius wants to assimiliate/copycat from her. Except her mental rigidity, that is. ;)

The quasit sounds good. In this nation of cobbled together races and fiends, demons and devils can work together, though some may harbor subtle animosity. I'd like to see the excerpts if you can send it to me but it sounds fine.

Of course, saying so I would like to establish my quasit in the scout/assasination division. His natural abilities help greatly where other have to rely on training and enemy's failures.

I'll PM to You the ... PATH TO SKOLL's GREAT PLAN, and I'm open to explain my expectations and plans on the developement of my character from the mechanical point of view. I were going to suggest skill consolidations, but as a Genius GM You foresaw my begging and spared me the humilation. :]

Little Esme is on her straight way to become a Lich and pursues this goal, litterally, leaving corpses in her wake...which shorty after raise up and follow their new mistress.

She was brought up by a Lich. Strange but possible. He stumbled upon her during one of his ventrues back when he wasnt so consumed by research as he is now. After slaughtering few villages and letting their inhabitants to join his cause he discovered a small cottage on the outskirts of one of those villages. There she was, all alone(she was shunned by villagers as a freak). Lich was quite surprised that girl has not died from heart attack as he showed up, so he was going to mercifully twist her neck and be done. When he was holding her by neck(she didnt even run!? stupidity must be purged!) he found it quite...nice. Later he came to understand that it was a constant flow of negative energy from her body. Interested, he brought her with him for further experiments. Later, observing her growing power he came up with a test to check extent of her natural "affinity" for undeath and enlsited her into Chandra's army.

Now she serves Chandra as army's technician as she can fix almoust anything(beggining from carts, ending on soldiers themselves) as long she has seving kit and few corps...spare parts. She also makes alchemical concotions if there is a need. Her other very important duty is to ensure that those who have fallen in service of Chandra are given second chance to redeem their sin by serving Chandra even in undeath.

CE Tiny Outsider (Dragon)
Your Quasit is also a dragon? Did I miss something?

Otherwise it looks fine, an upgraded form of the SRD version due to 32pb. He looks like a fun character.

For the totemist... Well, looking at the final product, I'm going to have to re-evaluate each concession I gave.

I finally had a chance to read up a bit on the class and I now have a decent enough understanding of its capabilities. I didn't understand how many natural attacks you'd be getting. I'm sorry but I'd like to take back my concession with Powerful Build -- it shouldn't boost your natural attacks. However, it will still be a large boon to you if you choose to be a grappler.

For Dragonborn, we can just say that there's Dragonborn of Tiamat. We can ignore the RP aspects of being an unwavering servant to your dragon god. Dragon Tail / Wings are fine.

Mineral warrior is fairly cheesy in my books. It's also accomplished through the spell Mineralize Warrior and costs the caster 500gp / 250xp per HD of the target creature and the target is under the compulsion to serve the caster for a year and a day (no save).

I'd say no to it, but the person I've been lifting off the homebrew rules from actually covered that template too. If you still want it, the cost will be ignored but there are a few changes:

Natural Armor bonus is +2, not +3.
Does not grant burrow speed.
Does not have Charisma penalty.
DR becomes 2/adamantine

EDIT: The rest stays the same.

Chandra is the caster. I'll let you decide whether or not you're still within your year of service because I don't want to hinder your RP ideas.

Other than that, a stone devil-ish creature is pretty badass.

Rainmar, I still have to look over the character thoroughly, but at a glance it looks like everything's in order. The "constant flow of negative energy" bit caught my attention. There's actually a feat in Libris Mortis called Tomb-Tainted Soul that fits the imagery very well. You get healed by negative energy like an undead. I hear it fits the class pretty well too.

Sorry for the constant edits everyone, but I'm going to add one more homebrew rule:
"You start with 4 extra skill points to spend on Craft, Profession, and Perform skills related to your backstory. These shouldn't have obvious mechanical benefits (that means you, would-be Fatespinners and Bards!). You may treat these as class skills for this purpose only."

I'm literally getting all the rules from over here. He's thought of everything!

Leftowers from my Hyper Epic Fighter, sorry.
Edited all that and added equipment.

Yup, and he'll charge Party 75 gp for each use of the Healing Belt !

Basically he is going to use Ring of Frost on bucket of water poisoned with his own venom to create ice, carve bolts out of ice and hide them in the bolt case. Sniper, killer he is I tell You ! Now he's working for his new reward: Sniper's Googles will that let him use Ranger's Spell "Sniper Shot" at will. No range Penatlies ! And paralysed enemies could be prepared for getting Limited Wish from Demogorgon.

Yeh, you must have some sort of future tellin' power, as Rikandur said. I was just about to ask you about Libris Mortis :). Aye, Tomb-Tainted Soul feat is cool and fits Esme more then anything else. If you allow me, I woud like to trade Weapon Finesse for this, also I would like to take CorpseCrafter feat instead spell focus(conjuration). I took spellfocus only to get augumented summoning feat. Instead I take Destruction Retribution feat from Corpsecrafter tree...oh man, I like that!

Also, could you tell me what are limitation of stuff you can create with only one skill? Taking Craft(Necrotech) I was thinking of making my girl able to create various things, taking that it might be made from flesh/bones and regular stuff like brass/iron/wood. I imagined that Chandra will stumble upon a siege or two after the word will spread that Lorwyn is under invasion. So I instantly hought of catapults and trebuchetes made from bone and flesh(simply a giant crafted hand tossing load :)) and meyby some siege towers made from big beasts we might kill on the way. Simply, take all siege equipment and add Dr. Frankenstein with a hint of necromancy. Also I thought it might help when my girl would try to make flesh golems or so.

Edit: I see some of us are shopping. How much gold we get at the beggining?

Hm... the burrow speed was one of the things I thought was really cool (Great ambush potential... who knows where the demon is coming from? In the floor, in the air, in your face!?). Could we like make a feat for it later? DR I'm fine with, Losing the cha penalty is fine by me. Natural armor is fine by me.

As for the totemist not getting the powerful build benefit, I asked because technically, I'll only be getting 4 attacks until much later levels, most of which will become d6 instead of d4. I don't think I can cheese it further than that, which means it's no more significant than iterative attacks from a boosted manufactured weapon.

I'm not certain grappling is a very effective tactic, unless I can grapple and then get airborn with my victim later... lol... that'd be sadistic. Grab someone by the throat, fly them up in the air, throw them down before breathing pain all over them.

I've never focused on grappling... I'll have to think about it. I am leaning more towards a crusader now, though, since I'll get more benefit from powerful build with that.
