Bei Mediamarkt gabs letzte Woche ne externe Festplatte für 20€ oder so...

Nah, don't buy that cheap, you'll regret it later. Get yourself a good second HD and build it into your comp.

And i'm happy that some people rose to the cause and injected some cynical remarks and doomsaying into the thread. Is WAS getting a little bit too positive.

I'm really glad they said something. It's a good step. It's nice that they will actually get some progress going in light of Christmas being this month. I had cancelled my subscription and have renewed it last week. Let's hope they keep communicating and fixing the problems.

We get export feature this month... which is nearly the same as save it on your hard disk, like it was before....

I hope you are right, but initial reports on the CBO suggested that there were problems with importing characters in to the Builder. (I don't know that myself, because I'm waiting for DDI content to improve before I will consider resubscribing.)

The export will only be useful if they also fix the import function.

Personally, I think the 20 character limit is dumb. However, at this point, I would rather they work on getting the online CB stable before increasing the character limit. It still takes too long to load, etc. (Though admittedly, my computer is having internet problems of its own at the moment and its been about a week since I used the CB).

As for the import/export, this may well eliminate the need for more characters on the cloud. I have been succesful in importing characters from the CB Classic but it is slow at the moment -- though again with the caveat that it could just be my computer.

All in all, I am simply glad that they are communicating. I do think the online CB implementation was handled badly, but it does seem as though they are learning at least. As a customer, while it would be nice for all my problems to be fixed overnight, I realize that this is not realistic. Having concerns though, and not knowing if they are being heard and/or addressed though would be inexcusable. All I ever ask of anyone is that they try. Of course, if their best efforts ultimately prove unsuccesful, that's a great reason not to give them our money.

Just to be clear. We are doomed. First DDI, then WoW. In 3 years, there won't even be a Microsoft any more. And the hobby will be dead. Not even diaglo will still play.

I believe those errors were mainly due to houseruled characters or characters with weird names for the file name (or names that were too long.)

If you're just exporting from th CB back into the CB I think it should be fine...

But then again... Never underestimate the capacity for stuff to get all messed up. :p

But my poor hard disk! All that space for all my characters!

:p

Which was one of WoTC selling points. "No longer have to store your character." And now you do! At least if you want more than 20 of 'em.

WoTC, mastering the double speak in different forms of medium. Post on the editorial about ultimate portability but reveal in the podcast that it's essentially to fight piracy! Yes! Left and right head combo!

I'm pretty sure you're right about the import issues being house rule related. In fact, didn't they tell us to remove the house rules before import as a work around?

No one has heard any comment from WotC about adding houserule capability to the New CB, have they? I just find that odd and unfortunate.

I'd like an admittance of fault more than admittance of a beta of which we were already completely aware. Something along the lines of "We're sorry" or "We apologize" pertaining to delays, their blatant hush tactics, and receiving money for services not rendered. I feel like they'd regain subscribers by taking the said path, but that's just me. Not mad. Just an opinion. I could be wrong.
