There are several DDMs which look rubbish from pictures, but awesome in person. The anethema is one of them. Plonk that down and watch the players go "Oh ****." The blackroot treant's another.

Unfortunately, there're also a few which look great in picture, but the actual model is a bit off. The mummy from the original harbinger set is an example.

And then there are the ones who're just terrible regardless of how you view them, like the aforementioned slaad.

I don't remember where I read it, but I vaguely recall mention that the giant snake head is intentionally inexplicable. Like, there is literally just a bunch of snakes one moment, and then they all pile onto each other and a giant snake head just appears out of nowhere - and vanishes whenever they return to an aimless mass of snakes.

That mini actually looks pretty cool in real life.

One of the players/parttime DMs in my group (who posts on EN World actually) is deathly afraid of snakes.

I occaisionally will pull my Yuanti Anathema mini out and just put it in front of him. It actually seems to bother him. We rarely taunt him like that, but sometimes its fitting.
