Since the forum merger moved the thread to the general rpg forum (I forgot to put a DnD 4ed tag on it) I'll post it here.

Current Version

D&D 4ed Power Tracker v1.0.0.0 Info Page

Original Public Release

Introduction

I was running a 4th edition game with some friends who had a bad tendency to lose track of what powers they were using, so the responsiblity fell on me.

For a while I was simply using a notepad file to track the information and decided there had to be a light weight application to take care of this and if there wasn’t I would make it. This is the result of that.

I ended up adding tracking for hit points, healing surges, and defenses so more info is in one convenient place.

Features
Loads character files exported from WotC’s online Character Builder.
Add monsters directly from WotC’s Monster Builder using Copy to Rich Text.
Docked, slide away window for quick easy access without taking up too much space.
Small footprint, the whole thing fits in one half meg exe.
Double click on monster entry to open Rich Text view of monster.

I welcome any comments, suggestions, concerns, reason you won't use it, etc.

Thanks for the tracker. It's looks so simple to use and compact. Reminds me of the DnD4e Combat Manager. If you want feedback, should I post here or in a pm? Thanks again.

I'm welcome to feedback on here, but if you feel more comfortable PMing it to me you're welcome to do that as well. Thanks for checking it out.

Nice work! My only issue is that the AC Ref etc covers the first two powers.

Edit: Yeah actually haven't been able get this to work properly in Win7.

On my win7 machine, the window is mostly off-screen. The window border is visible on the right hand side. I was able to get to the Tools menu and un-check "pin to side". This brings the window back to center. Annoyingly, it always starts in "pin to side" mode.

I was thinking about making something similar, but reading through the dnd4e XML just about made my head esplode. I'm playing a wizard, and keeping track of available powers is a bit more complex. The character builder printout makes it difficult, because the abilities aren't sorted by level or type. They aren't sorted by any method I can decipher.

Displaying the level and sort by it, after sorting by usage, would make this one step closer to useful. And please, turn off "pin to side" by default.

Alright, I've set it to not be pinned to the side by default in the next version. About the level and sorting by it, unfortunately the power's level is not in the character's file and I haven't been able to find a comprehensive power list online so I'm not able do that from character load. What if double clicking on the power opens up a small window where you can set the level and notes for the power and once the level is set it would then sort as requested and the notes would show up on mouseover as a tooltip?
In regards to when it's pinned to the side, when you mouse over the bit of the application that is sticking it should automatically slide out to make the window visible and when the mouse leaves the window area it should slide back to the side. Is it not doing this?

What is it doing? I built it in Win7.

Have you looked at iplay4e, at iplay4e.appspot.com to see what's out there already? It's what I currently use to track my characters, and probably the main competition if you're making an aid of some kind. The only thing that I know of that it doesn't track at this time are power points.
