"Our captain did not want to risk sending one or more of our crawlers away from Odyssey just in case any raiders tried to attack either Odyssey or the investigating crawlers."

"I guess I can't blame you for being careful...but I hope some of them are still alive. It's a hard thing to die in the desert. Anyway, nice to talk to you. Long and safe journeys to you and yours."

She shrugged and sent to her teammates, "I think we're okay. And I plotted the location they gave for the distress signal. We can go straight there."

Brian Shaughnessy

Brian bites his lip, merely nodding slightly to acknowledge Seif's warning. When Deezy sends her message, he lets out a sigh of relief.

"Great. Let's get out of here then. The faster we're away from that monstrosity, the better I'll feel."

’East of Hecates Tholus’ is not a small region,” pointed out Seif on the radio. “But it is a place to start.” He frowned at Brian after hanging up; mysteries kept pilling up, but at least this one could be cleared up fairly quick: “What would you do with the exhaust vents?”

[sblock=OOC]Once the megacrawler and escort is a safe distance away, Seif will order the caravan to move out down the Elysium road, with its increased cover from areal patrols.

Seif would also like to eventullya/fairly soon discuss things with lord Burroughmeister (at their first meal break maybe?). Namely the whys of pursuit (by two separate agencies, apparently) AND the release of lady Rasputina.[/sblock]

He frowned at Brian after hanging up; mysteries kept pilling up, but at least this one could be cleared up fairly quick: “What would you do with the exhaust vents?”

Brian squirmed a bit as the topic continued, but decided the best way to extricate himself from Seif's notice would be to finish with the scenario that currently held his attention.

"They lead to the engine itself. fire in there, and whether you damage the exhaust or set off a reaction, either way the engine's in trouble, and so is the crawler."

"Uh." Seif thought of the exhaust pipes he knows, of the likelyhood of disabling - say - a regular crawler by shooting at such a target... A slow heat death at best would have been his judgement, but perhaps megacrawlers were different... Fume backflow, if you managed to plug it up good? He filed the info away for possible use later, then turned his atention to the silent Ottoman and wondered about his strange silences (twice now).

Was he maintaining the hanging mist? Or just prone to loose himself in his own thoughts, like an old man at fire's edge?

The fixed eyes of the Ottoman followed the advance of the megalithic crawler, as it went by, unaware that Seif was intently looking at him. When he realizes that, he raises an eyebrow. "Hm?" he mutters, inquisitively.

As the Odyssey crawler rumbles forward in the distance, Lord Burroghmeister steps out of his his crawler and glanced down at his pocket watch before heading towards the caravan's forward look out.'

"I fear we wasted too much time in this location. I do not believe we can travel far before any of the our brothers begin to demand that we observe noon-rest." The Lord frowned. "It's shameful, but I would rather spend noon-rest now then be forced into stopping in a canyon in about one hour. So what is your oppinion, Seif?"

"Take cover under an outcrop before rest," answered that worthy after brief consideration. "Areal patrols are still about, lord."

[sblock=OOC]Your description of the Elysium road said there was several of those along the way?[/sblock]
