Help with specific Half-Creature

Did I say Half-Fiend? Hmm...
Fire is a much more common damage type then cold, and in general, there are more monsters with resistance and immunity to cold (Undead being a major factor of that).
I personally think the Vulnerability to fire would be very flavorful, and if you don't want something that extreme, you could increase the chances of sunstroke/etc.
I might be confusing everyone with my Role-play based suggestions though. Mechanically, adding this stuff just complicates it and gives more room for cheeseyness, but I personally love customizing templates. I think if you spend enough time as a DM, you get a little too comfortable home-brewing stuff. ^^'

You did, just not in the sentence I referenced. ;)
I assumed you meant Half-Fiend since it we're talking about a Half-Fey.

Back to the topic, I think the reason the Frostwind Virago doesn't have the Cold subtype is because they didn't want it to have vulnerability to fire.

Giving the Half-Fey temporary resistance or immunity to cold trough spell-like abilities would not increase the power of the template. Adding it permanently would probably increase it's power to much.

Also, Half-Fiends don't have immunity to fire (which about all devils and demons have, even Ice Devils), they do have the resistance though but that is reflected by their +4 level adjustment.

We could use the actual Half-Fiend as a base template, and use it's +4 adjustment for the Half-Virago, considering the Virago is probably a lot more powerful than most Fey.

One other thing I was wondering about is the origin of Half-Virago's. They don't strike as being happy at all with the company of any other being. Only the necessity of continuing existence of their species forces them for brief interaction with Frost Folk males. Which actually results in a pureblood Frostwind Virago. I guess a Snow Elf might be mistaken for Frost Folk and you could rule that any mate other than Frost Folk results in Half-Virago.

Whichever way you put it, they aren't like other fey, so making a separate template for the rare case where a Half-Virago exists doesn't sound like a bad idea.

EDIT: The Half-Fiend has to many abilities which don't fit (Darkvision, Spell Resistance and Immunity to Poison), which makes sense since the 15HD Cornugon is considered to be as strong as the 30HD Frostwind Virago.

However when increasing the level adjustment to +3 I guess this would be alright to double the ability adjustments (so +4 to Dex, Con and Cha) and add Cold Resistance 10, a swim speed of 20 ft., a Natural Armor bonus of +1, and you can be a little bit more free when choosing spell-like abilities, but stick to the charm/cold theme. Possibly allow the DR to increase at higher HD.

The Origin probably will never come up but the father was a Snow Elf Paladin who failed in his mission to slay the Virago and she kinda... anyway...

This was my thinking. I wanted the template to shine through a bit more though in the end I may end up just using half-fiend something i didnt want to do in the first place and redoing the backround a bit.
