Converting monsters from Dragon magazine

How about this?
+1 full plate (2650 gp)
+1 heavy steel shield (1170 gp)
+1 keen longsword (8315 gp)
Throw in a mundane lance, and you're just a bit over 12000 gp (12150, roughly). Make it masterwork, and it goes up to about 12500 gp. Look ok?

Works for me.

We'd need to remember not to give it Improved Critical (longsword), since that doesn't stack with keen. If we decide to go for the Imp Crit feat we can always change it to a flaming, frost or shock longsword.

Since we've already spent our cash (and then some), I vote boring. ;)

But, but that's... BORING!

Okay, I wasn't that serious about it. A mighty [+3] composite longbow is a better choice - more damage and doesn't cost a feat at the same 700 gp price.

I'd rather drop the shield to a non-enchanted one to keep it in (or close to) budget:

+1 keen longsword (8315 gp)
+1 full plate (2650 gp)
heavy steel shield (170 gp)
masterwork lance (310 gp)
masterwork mighty [+3] composite longbow (700 gp)
Total: 12,145 gp

Agreed. Updated.

Skills: 11 fighter ranks plus 1 cleric rank plus 9 human bonus ranks

Feats: 4 plus 5 fighter bonus feats plus 1 human bonus feat

It should have 12 human bonus skill ranks, not 9, since it gets 4 at 1st level.

You appear to have put its first level in fighter, putting it in cleric would give a more balanced skill rank selection (8 cleric plus 16 fighter versus 2 cleric plus 22 fighter).

Suppose we can sort out the fighter bonus feats first - Weapon Focus, Weapon Specialisation and Greater Weapon Focus in longsword, Power Attack, Improved Initiative?
