I saw the preview of this in the theatre and I am liking what I see -

yeah, saw the trailer as well - definitely interesting to see a modern prequel to a well known story rather than a retelling of the exact same story (which hollywood is otherwise doing a lot of these days).

random tidbit since no one would otherwise recognize him, actor who does the motion for the primary monkey is the same guy who did the motion for gollum in LotRK.

Edit: By recognize him, I don't mean his name. But rather I mean since his face isn't seen (like James Franco) then you don't know Andy Serkis is in it unless you see his name in the credits.

Andy Serkis? Well I guess it'd be him, seeing as Weta made the effects. And it's not like he hasn't played a monkey before.

But back to the movie. I saw the trailer and it looked very intriguing. I just hope it's better than that horrid POTA remake by Tim Burton.

I just meant since he isn't physically shown on screen and you'd have to see his name to know he was there (as opposed to another actor like James Franco who you can recognize by appearance without having to look for his name to know he's in there)

I realized that, but I've seen enough him discussing the things he's worked on to recognize him for himself and not just the characters he's done mocap for.

It was a great movie and they set a nice foundation for a series. Crossing my fingers for a sequel.
