Werewolf without being a Shifter?

First Post
In a bizarre story-twist, I have a Genasi Warden who is due to be bitten and struck with lycanthropy. (No mechanics for this attack, just story.) I want to retain my Genasi identity and abilities, but I'd like to overlay it with a lycanthrope flavor and mechanics.

I combed through the feats and backgrounds, and nothing on DDI addresses this. Any ideas?

Yes! Take the Pack Outcast theme from the new Neverwinter Campaign Setting. You get the ability to turn into a wolf as your starting feature, and you can turn into a full wolf/man hybrid starting at level 10. You technically can't take the theme unless you are human, but there is no game balance reason why you can't just houserule it.

Yeah, that seems appropriate.

Alternately, houserule a feat that gives, say, +2 Perception and something else, and cosmetically changes you into a Wolfman/Crinos/DBT warform type. That seems a bit lame for a feat, but dude, you get to be a burning/airy/watery wolfdude.

I thought Pack Outcast was Human and Shifter, so I don't think Genasi Pack Outcast will fly, at least, not RAW, and not in CB.

Initiate of the Old Faith will work, if you are a Str/Wis Warden, rather than Str/Con.

You can just simulate it with fluff really. You're the perfect class for it. Describe your Forms as being hybrid wolf like. With Form of the Winter's Herald, you take on the aspects of a winter wolf. With Form of the Stone Sentinel, you gain similar regenerative powers to those of a werewolf. Even your feats can be refluffed this way. If you have Primordial Surge, describe the temporary hit points as a result of gaining a more feral appearance. If you have Barbarian Multiclass, when you use the daily +2 damage, you transform into a more vicious version of yourself. Heck, you can even pretend item powers enhance this aspect of you. Have Catstep boots? They just became Wolf Pounce transformation. Have Ornament of Alertness? That just became Ornament of Wolf Senses.

Basically anything that gives you bonus to damage, regeneration, temporary hit points, bonus to a relevant skill, or even low-light vision, can be refluffed.

You can't legally get Pack Outcast in the character builder, but there is a way to do it and have it appear as house-ruled.
Change your race to human, pick the Pack Outcast theme. Change your race back to Genasi and the theme will remain.
The restrictions for race or class on the Neverwinter themes were not done for balance reasons, but flavour reasons only IMHO. So talk to your DM about it and see what they'd be willing to accommodate.

Also note that this theme will give you added power with no drawbacks. Talk to your DM and the other players to see if they are ok with this.
