This is begging for a giant version

Maybe it's not worth worrying about mobility and charging, etc. Want just to drop it?

Vulnerable wings could work.

Well I suppose I might go along with regular Mobility if pressed, especially as it's a prereq for Improved Flyby, but the original monster's had an AC bonus that only applied against missile weapons.

So, maybe forget about the Mobility feat and give them something like this?:

Aerial Dodge (Ex): A flying giant dragonfly is so agile it has a +4 AC bonus against all ranged and thrown attacks. It does not receive this bonus when it is not flying, or if its aerial maneuverability is lowered by some effect.

Vulnerable wings could work.

Well it's hardly necessary, since the original monster didn't have vulnerable wings, in either EX2, MMII or MC5.

I was throwing the idea out to see whether it had any traction.

Ok, let's go with aerial dodge and forget the vulnerable wings. Sure.

Agreed.

And Updated.

Anything else for them mechanically, or shall we just whip up some flavour and call it a day?

I still haven't checked the Dragon magazine version of them to see whether there are any special abilities we can borrow.

You've got some kind of broken link there; it thinks I want to edit your working draft. Anyway, I think it's ok up to flavor. Fluff it up!

Either of you remember what we called the rend like version? The one that gives auto bite damage on two successful attacks?

When in doubt, guess "gnaw". :p

Gnaw (Ex): An agriotherium that hits with both claw attacks may make an immediate free bite attack. Additionally, it deals automatic bite damage every round it maintains a grapple.

Yes, I'd better fix it.

Might as well add an outline for Tactics while I'm at it.

The Working Draft already has Gnaw.

Looks good. Do you have description and flavor text, too?

let's see...

An enormous dragonfly, longer than a human is tall. Its slender body and globe-eyed head are brilliantly colored.

Giant dragonflies appear identical to their normal-sized kin. Their skin has a glittering, metallic colour - usually red, gold, green, or blue - and is often striped or spotted. Giant dragonflies come in many species, most of which can be easily distinguished by their coloration and pattern.

These giant insects live in both temperate and tropical lands. They are always found within flying distance of freshwater, since they must lay their eggs in lakes, swamps or rivers. Tropical giant dragonflies tend to be larger and more gorgeously coloured than their kin from cooler lands.
