20th Anniversary Edition Vampire: the Masquerade... Got it in .pdf format today

I got today the mail informing me that I could download the PDF, but sadly, due to some unspecified and persistent issues to the download server, I've been unable to get my copy in the last few hours... :(

The book (pdf) is pretty amazing. The writing is very well done and I like the way they set up the book. There seems to be some peices of art that are reused but since it's been 15 years for some of them I'm not sure how obvous it is.

The art recycling is sort of obvious to me. :p Then again, I ran a Vampire: the Masquerade chronicle as recently as last year and casually read the books just because I like to read them. I'm probably a bit more familiar with the classic art than I should be. Still, it didn't bother me. It felt more like flipping through a yearbook and seeing old friends rather than "oh, they re-used that piece." Yes, nostalgia played some role in that... But it still felt right to use the art how they did.

The writing is awesome. I've been inspired to start writing out a document for My Hometown by Night for my own games. I've attached it just for the fun of sharing. :) It's really refreshing to have a new set of core rules to inspire me to write... I'm enjoying it.

Yeah, it took me about two hours before the download would start. I kept getting server error messages. I don't use drivethrurpg.com enough to know if that's a persistent issue or not.

By persistent I meant that I kept getting the error message at different times during the day yesterday (and I keep getting it today). This is actually the first time that I have trouble downloading a file from them.

That was always the most fun part of cWoD, to me.

Did you ever do an extensive writeup for your own city for Vampire? I know that many groups played in their hometowns, but I haven't really seen people do much writing about it (except insanely long character backgrounds as big as some novels). I've sort of been carrying it around in my head for years and haven't written much about it. But something about 20th Anniversary edition kicked my fingers into gear and I've enjoyed writing about it lately.

Then again, it might be my coping mechanism for being unable to actually play it right now. :) I'm running a Pathfinder game that'll probably wrap up by the end of the year, so it'll probably be February or so before I can give it a shot.

Anyone having issues downloading the file - try the download link from the emailed receipt they send you after you enter the PDF code and add it to your account. That link worked fine for me and was quite fast, whereas the download direct from the website never worked. It kept saying there was a problem with the server. The emailed download link should work.

There's a .pdf available, although I'm not sure if it's available to the general public or just to folks that ordered the hardcover. It seems like the .pdf would be available to anyone that wants it, I'd imagine.

I've seen no sign that it is available to the general public at this time. I'll be happy to pick it up if it does become available. I have heard rumbles about a Print-on-demand version. I'm not sure how well that would work for such a large book, though.

I did, back in college, but those notes are lost to history now.

I got my PDF last night - ah, the memories.

We didn't do our hometown, but were only two hours away from New Orleans anyway.
