Yeah, instant run off voting (IRV) has been around quite some time. Ireland and Australia have (or had? unsure) adopted it. There are actually quite a few methods. It's actually inherent in many of the parliamentary voting systems (e.g. 100 seats, vote for a party not a rep, 1 seat is award for every 1 percent of votes a party receives).

In terms of mathematical fairness the single vote method is almost the least fair. So I'm glad the Ennies have taken this approach. Good video.
