Am I the only one to sit up and notice what with humans getting a blanket +1 to all scores, and another +1 to one of choice, and then presumably another +1 from class!

I don't think it will surprise anyone that paladin is a class. Disappoint, maybe, but not surprise.

I like the advantage mechanic; but it does need to be hashed out what it means in-game vs. a flat number modifier and this statement didn't really help. "If you spend an action, you gain advantage" is a really metagame-y statement, and one that I doubt will hold true.

Races need penalties. Not everyone is average or better.

I do not like the superhuman ability score bonuses at all. Other races' bonuses aren't even an advantage in that case, they're just the one area in which they almost compete with ordinary humans... bleh. Just give humans a +1 to any single ability score they choose. That is powerful enough!

But what else should humans get? Well, a bonus feat like in 3.x and 4e is certainly appropriate, and from the look of how good feats are going to be in this edition, that would be a very nice bonus. Humans could also get an extra skill or something similar.

1) Paladins were obliviously a class

2) So am I right to infer that a rogue is intended to get sneak attack every other round at base as an action do gain advantage.

3) I don't like the "+1 everything plus one +1 to any for Humans". There has to be some non-stat racial feature for humans.

Humans:

+1 to one ability score of your choice
+2 trained skills

Paladin is in-cool

PC's should put in effort to gain advantage- cool

Humans get +1 to everything, subraces are in, subraces determine ability score bonus, no ability malus- not cool at all, I get a massive case of the do-not-wants. If this stays, I hope there's a module completely rewriting how races are build.

I LOVE the bad reaction to the Human bonuses here and like every other forum.

Does anyone like it? :p

I do, a human getting a bonus to all scores sounds good to me (like angular banjos).

Do we know if these bonuses are +1 or +2?

Would a human gain +1 to all scores, and an additional +1 to one of his/her choice?

Does a high elf get +1 or +2 to Int?

Do classes also grant a bonus?

Adventurers are not typical. They are not-human or they are somewhat above average in terms of inherent abilities. I think its fits the genre and is nicely straight-forward.

So I guess I am on the one.
