Of the remaining grubs, Eva kills on with magic, Ignus kills two with his weapon, licking it clean afterward, and Graven kills the remaining one. The sound of combat is gone, leaving and all is silent. Merri takes a huge sigh of relief, happy to live another day. She sits and tends to her wounds while other search the room. After checking around Eva notices a the remains of the upper have of a rotten corpse. The armor equipped on the dead body is useless, however, the amulet, still wrapped around the next of the corpse, is fine. Eva recognizes the type of amulet immediately.

Meanwhile, Graven after searching the left side of the wall of the cavern spots something. After moving a couple rocks, the outline of a hidden door appears (marked "x" on the map). Graven easily opens the door. Taking a quick look, the warforged sees steps going up about 20 feet before changing directions. The rest of the search reveals nothing. Resting for a bit, the party has to make a decision.

1. Take the steps up from the hidden door
2. Continue forward through the cave to the other side (mark y). There is a 20' wide passage leading in the same direction you entered the room.

Ignus is busy furiously wiping his tongue on his robe making a "hurrrrk" sound occasionally as he spits out a large gob of spit while Graven finds the secret door. Finally he relents and rubs his small clawed hands on his robe, "So I be Ignus, who migh' choo be?" as he extends a hand, that may have just been rubbed in the spit on his robe, toward Merri.
 

Merri takes the offered claw in both hands and pumps it hard.

"You guys must be heroes! I'm so pleased to meet you! Normally I wouldn't let myself get in this... um, you know... trouble."

She notices everyone's eyes watching her a little suspiciously. After a brief moment, she throws up her hands in mild frustration. You know this because you feel the frustration emanate off her again.

"Okay, fine, let me explain. My name is Merri. With an "i". (she does a small curtsy) The short version is this: I've always been like this. An emotional beacon. (Caim, she was a hero, too. She told me I will learn to control it...) Anyway, a while ago, you know, a couple few years or what not, my parents were killed. I let all my emotions and anger go free and I, um, ...I killed the bad guys. But that wasn't how I work, so I think the best way to say it is... I think something broke in me. That's what the elves told me anyway. (She glances at Eva). Since they helped me heal, I still project my emotions but I need to take some from people as well. It's why I don't stay places very long. I wander a lot.

"One of the effects from all this is that I can't be in sunlight. It hurts. Bad. So I was taking a break under a large tree when these tribesman found me. It was too sunny and I didn't want to have them take my cloak off, so I let them take me. I thought I would just get away at night, but then they threw me down here.

"So, now you know, I understand if you want me to go away now."


OOC: Merri finished the combat with more healing surges than she started with, so she regains all hit points and is 2/2 surges again.

Also, she votes for the secret passage.
 

ooc: one vote for up the stairs...that's all we need. Sorry for the rush everyone, but I'm trying to make this adventure by the same as the timeline for the adventure The Revenge of Bosch. The two adventures are linked, as we will soon see. :)

After the party heals their wounds and makes their introductions to Merri, they move carefully up the spiraling stairs. Until reaching a door. The door is slightly ajar and it makes no sound as Graven (I just chose someone randomly) opens it. As the party enters the small room they notice that it is a room designed for storage. Large sacks of grain and piles of salted meat are spread throughout the room. A door is located on the opposite side of the door that everyone exited. Next to the door is a small window. As everyone takes a peek outside the window they can see that it is night time (your welcome Merri) and that there is a group of people putting the finishing touches on cleaning up and area that was recently used to occupied a large gathering of people. One person is obviously in charge as he continues to bark out orders in the cleaning process.

You recognized immediately that the one giving the orders was also the one who cut the ropes, thus sacrificing you to their god. He was wearing ceremonial mask and robe at the time, but the hideous scar on the leader's right shoulder gives his identity away.

Merri shudders a little bit. A little bit of anger pulses out.

"That guy yelling the commands. He is in charge. He's the one that through me down the pit."
 

"So, now you know, I understand if you want me to go away now."

"Oh no, no, don't worry so much about it," Eva immediately answers. "I think you fit in just fine with us." She motions to the kobold and the two robots.

At the window, Eva says "Do you... want revenge? Is that it? I mean, I guess we'd better stop him either way..."

Merri takes her heavy cloak off and stuffs it down into her bag. While it appears nothing that big should fit in there, the cloak slides in without problem.

Eva notices no bites.

"Well, I'm not bloodthirsty or anything like that, sheesh! But, um, I was wondering if this has anything to do with the quest you guys were supposed to complete? Are these the guys with the whatever it is?"
