Still playing Skyrim?

Got back into it and had some fun, but then ran into an annoying bug of random (and frequent!) freezes so I've stopped playing Skyrim for the time being (until the next patch, for the very least) and started playing Borderlands.

That is some very proactive laziness on your part! :)

I've already assassinated the Emperor. I got little thanks for that. Ulfric ElfHater ain't gonna bow before me. And I don't get to take over the empire.

And I can't destroy the Dominion.

I had a lot of fun with Skyrim. But once I found Minecraft, I haven't really looked back at any other games.

Went back for Dawnguard, started a new PC and everything. I left the wizard and assassin plotlines for my eventual restart, so I did those too. Only did enough of the main questline to get some decent shouts, and still got to level 34.

Going to eventually go back to my L50 Nord, have him play through the DG stuff (as a good guy) and try to get to L78 so I can fight one of the Legendary dragons I keep hearing about.

Borderlands is what I'm on now, too. Played it a while back, but I wanted to finish the DLC before playing BL2, but to do that I needed to level up through the second play through. Finally got to L50 on the weekend.

That's what gets me! I want to go up to those bandits hanging out at the bridge and say "Look, peon, I'm head of the Companions, Listener for the Dark Brotherhood, Guildmaster of the Thieves Guild, Archmage of the College of Winterhold, and chosen champion of basically every Daedric Prince out there. Could you please go back to your folks and take up a real career like farming so I don't need to destroy you?"

I still play. On the PS3. I’m level 43. But I’ve only ever completed ten or so of the side-missions and only two or three of the main missions/Quests. I’m the Archmage of Winterhold and a Bard (not that this seems to be of any real import) and various other things.

I have huge piles of treasures, have bought safehouses in three cities, cleaned out numerous forts and towers (some multiple times) in every province to make them my bases of operations.

I have many magical items I have created myself such as the Gunngard, the Gunnbolt, and the Gunndrang. I created my own armor.

I have ridden to or climbed the tops of every mountain peak including the one where the old dragon lives (but not during a mission) on my own. I have numerous shouts and other capabilities, I’ve been to the swimming edge of every ocean and to the far frontiers (as far as the game will let me go) in every province or hold. I stopped counting how many dragons I killed. (I have a reserve of thirty dragon souls.) God only knows how many monsters I’ve slain or bandits I’ve killed.

And I did that all by avoiding the missions, most of which I didn’t care for and certainly wasn’t going to do, like eating a corpses, or setting ambushes for innocent people for demonic little godlings, etc. I don’t give a crap about that kinda crap in the game. I wish the game were different in that respect.

However, to me this is the single bets game yet made for roaming unhindered, free travel, vadding, exploring, and just plain wandering about at will. The exploration aspect is incredible.

The freedom, the landscapes, the world, the general setting, they are all fantastic. Also I’ve become extremely skilled with the bow. This is also one of the best sniping games I’ve ever played. (I can out an arrow in an eye socket from a considerable distance with a headshot.) I practice ambush at every occasion. I aloes very much like how easy it is to get killed if you are foolish no matter your level.

I’ve become extremely good at many skills such as enchantment, smithing, archery, sneaking, etc. in the game. I’ve taken I don’t know how much warbooty. I’ve worked for just about everyone and am not aligned to anyone. I have three horses, stabled at different areas and wardogs. I have hirelings I contract pretty much at will scattered in different locales. I have a huge personal library. More money and gemstones and other valuables than I’ll ever need. The places I happen across are often amazing and fascinating.

For those reasons I still play it, and love it. If only it were better in other ways. And most of the missions didn’t suck. But most do.

Yeah SM, NPCs in Skyrim are not very useful. Or practical.

Just this past weekend I got a pet wolf. I thought this would be great but whenever I dismounted my horse went staright at the wolf and eventually killed it. No way to make the horse and wolf get along for more than a very short time, even with magic.

Early on in the game I had various followers. But everytime we explored a place or got into a fight they stumbled straight into it (I prefer stealth and bow sniping) meaning they screwed up my fight or exploration. No way to control them. I had to either leave them in place or expect them to ruin my ambush and trash my position. (I hate others ruining a good ambush or sniping poisition.) This was the ame for animals, or people.

My followers wouldn't ride a horse either. Meaning they always lagged way behind outdoors.

Eventually I just gave it up to work alone. My preference anyway. But it would have been nice to have some control over others. A big weakness in the game.

They should work on that.

I'd actually like to fire it up and play it again (even in the midst of my Borderlands 2 killing sprees) but, you see, I'm an idiot.

My Xbox died a few months back. With Skyrim in the tray. Like the idiot I am, I replaced my Xbox, and tossed the old one in the trash. Without ever getting my Skyrim disc out of it. I didn't realize the width and breadth of my stupidity until weeks later.

So now I have a lovely case, a beautiful map of Skyrim, and no disc. One of these days I'll have to go pick up a used copy of the game to replace the one I so stupidly tossed in the trash. =/

But first, I need to finish killing things in Borderlands 2. And there are a lot of things to kill. And so very, very, very many different guns to use to complete the killing.
