Robotech II

Anybody remember the second season of Robotech? You know, "The Masters?" All that stuff about the triumvirate and the flower of life?

I have news.

Lieutenant Dana Sterling is not the child of Max and Miriya Sterling.

No, it was revealed to me in a mysterious, video game induced dream that she is in fact the illegitimate and slightly inbred child of Minmei and Lynn Kyle.

That is all.

Um. Huh.
Of course, we knew that, because infant Dana had green hair, and teenager Dana had blonde with the black stripe.
Or the fact that Super-Dimensional Fortress Southern Cross had no relation to Super-Dimensional Fortress Macross until Carl Macek and Harmony Gold slapped them together with Genesis Climber Mospeada.

In true keeping with anime, what you said directly contradicts events in Robotech 2: the Sentinels, in which Max and Miria have a second child--the one that sends the telepathic message to Dana that snaps her out of a Protoculture exposure delusion. What anime would be complete without contradiction and inconsistency.

Hair color isn't that much help - blonde isn't the natural result of either green & blue or dark & dark. Dana's a dye job either way.

But what makes you think that was Max and Miriya's child calling to Dana? Dana was tripping on a flower of life trip at the time; heck, those could have been Invid dubbed over by Harmony Gold as part of their conspiracy to silence the truth. Well, it didn't work. The truth will out!

Books are non-cannon and are therefore not covered by the revelations contained in dreams.

I SAW THE FACES OF THE ROBOTECH MASTERS THEY REVEALED THE TRUTH UNTO ME

The Macross series were completely separate.
Meanwhile the cobbled together tv series is a combined amalgam of the Macross lines, and the novels were the official treatment of the TV series. Much of what transpires in the books were written by the authors who cobbled together the TV series if I recall correctly.

Although since I read the books prior to 2002, it looks like they've retconned the novel events to a "secondary continuity" when things don't mesh between the TV series and the novels.

And, yah, I don't see Dana as being anything but the child of Max and Miriya

Great googly moogly, this changes everything! If all human/zentradi hybrids are really the result of deformities due to inbreeding, it means that Guld really is the ultimate redneck!
