Owlbear hoots and charges, crashing into tree and shattering it. It spreads its arms and prepares to pounce on Lerrick. However, Cyr's lightning bolt hits monster directly, burning flesh and feathers and it seems to be too much even for berserk owlbeast. Hooting softly, monster takes another step forward and collapses.

"Hey, little one, why did you enter the mirrors!? Why did I stand in front of you if you're going to die anyways?! Get out!!"
Hey now...I can handle it. You just worry about yourself. You've never had a dragon try to sacrifice you. I have!

With the last beast down, Lerrick takes a quick survey of the wounded.
Give me a moment to meditate and I will heal those in need.

[sblock=actions]
Before short rest actions:
movement: see map
action: Lerrick performs healer's mercy: Warlock gains HS + 5 hp

During short rest:
2 healing words: HS +3d6+5 for anyone who needs: rolls: (looks like the both spell casters V and M benefit the most: V gets HS+9, M gets HS+16
Lerrick spends 1 surge for 15 hp bringing her to max

[/sblock]

[sblock=DM] If this prevents Lerrick from having recharged Healing Words for future encounters then Lerrick will not use healing words during the short rest. The rest of the party will just have to spend their own surges or use Lerrick's healing potions. [/sblock]

OOC: With those two healing effects, Martelai is full with two surges (even overflowing)
Thanks, [MENTION=79956]dimsdale[/MENTION]

The warlock looks at himself in disgust, fingering rents in his armor and wiping the blood away.
"To be caught like this! In The Wild! What did those three think? There must be someone leading them. No three hunters would attack 6 humanoids." Half-elf stops, thinks for a moment...and then continues in subdued tones
"Unless they never saw people before. Which means there aren't any cousins of mine around. Thank stars. Once we rest for a bit, we can continue the exploration."

Lilli looks over at Martelai, "They were Owlbears. We were likely in their hunting grounds, which meant that to them that we were likely both a threat and a source of food that should be killed regardless of anything else."

"Indeed, I don't think these brutes possess much in the rational thinking department." Vermitrax says, waving off Martelai's concerns. As his wounds began to heal, the wizard offers a bow in gratitude, as he continues his way to the last corpse. He sighs and immediatly starts casting a spell. The dark and gutural sound of it call the attention of those familiar with necromancy, although the last three words of the spell could be heard. "Vita...Mortis...Cragion!" A rift in reality opened, and a spectral presence breached through before it closed again. The entity flows into the corpse of the owlbear, and immediatly its flesh decays and boils in putrefaction, leaving only white bone behind. The skeleton starts rattling, and raises to its feet. Vermitrax looks appreciatively at the undead "I've done better, but this will do."

Vermitrax uses his daily, Summon Shadow Servant.

[MENTION=79956]dimsdale[/MENTION]: [sblock="ooc, spending encounter powers during short rest(s)"]
Spending any encounter power does prevent you from recharging that encounter power until the next short rest (and as party is getting one short rest per encounter, that in effect does mean you cannot recharge them until after next encounter).
In effect, that means you cannot recharge healing word before next encounter if you use it now. However, if you have any encounter powers you did not spend during the encounter (perhaps healer's mercy), you can spend then now and recharge then normally.

Thinking about beasts of Fey a bit, you are fairly sure owlbears are indeed not very rational beasts. They have bad habit of attacking anything larger then mouse that enters their territory and while they were quite aggressive, it is not likely they were under outside control... although their presence on the road that leads from the portal is bit curious, but it might have just been coincidence.

Winding path leads deeper into the forest, remains of ancient lamp-posts set by it, obviously long abandoned. Careful observation reveals occasional ruins by the path, but forest has long won over any civilization here. With bloodshed over, tranquility has returned over the forest path, serene hooting of owl can be heard somewhere in the distance and careful looking reveals pale, lazy glowing wisps of light glowing in strange shades of blue, purple and green floating somewhere deep in the forest. Flowery fragrances can be felt in the air, likely coming from strange silvery flowered wines that hang from massive trees ahead.
[sblock="perception DC 15"]
Surveying the surroundings, you are fairly sure there is no imminent danger about. You cannot shake off feeling you are not alone in this place, but at least for now, there is no sense of danger in the air...

"Most assuredly," says Lilli, "they didn't need prompting to attack us. It might be possible that some event or somebody may have influenced them to claim this area, however."
