D&D 5E how many 5e supporters are upset about the possible $50 price tag

How did the price of $50 effect you?

I have voted seriously in your somewhat silly poll :)

My vote is: I was unsure about 5e but the $50 price tag doesn't effect me.

I am unsure about 5e because it's still in playtest mode and the last rules I saw, as of October last year, appeared to be in a great state of flux. Thus, I won't be sure about whether I like it or not until it is released. That strikes me as the only logical option (unless you're in the closed playtest).

The $50 price tags doesn't effect me because whenever you see a price you need to ask "what am I getting for my money?" Since that question is entirely unanswered, and we don't know whether it will be like the Pathfinder Core Rulebook, PHBs of the past, or the BD&D Rules Cyclopedia, it is irrational to make any assumptions about the significance of the price.

This is the correct answer to your poll. What do I win?

No "Left me doing an impression of Edvard Munch's The Scream" option? Really?

Seriously, I'm not at all bothered - can use Amazon for a more moderate price if getting from the game store is too much.

I was unsure about 5e and the price makes me a little less likely to buy, but it's not a big factor. Much more important (for me) will be adoption rate and overall reviews. In my case, it is unlikely I will buy initially, and I will probably buy used at a steep discount later, if I buy at all.

There's no poll option for "I am not yet sold on 5E but the price won't be a deterrent." I'd like to see D&D go back to using the OGL, though I doubt they will, but that isn't a deal breaker either. For me, it largely depends on the tone of the base game and the nature of ongoing support. I'd like potentially fast combat which aren't the focus of the adventures in the base game and RP-oriented supplements as regular support. I'm also not interested in subscription-based support, so if the game (base or supplements) is geared toward such a requirement, WotC is unlikely to find me as a customer. In any event, I'll get in enough games to know what I am missing before making a decision.

I'll be buying 5E regardless of price... but on top of that, I refuse to get up in arms about something that doesn't exist.

And a $50 price tag does not yet exist. I'll concern myself with the price if/when it is officially released.

I'll be buying 5E regardless of price...

you can't possible mean that.

I get that $50 isn't the break point for everyone, but you have to have a break point.

Would you buy it for $100?
Would you buy it for $450?
would you buy it for $1,000?

If the answer to all of those is yes, I have one last question, will you adopt me?

That poll is pretty darn biased. I wouldn't be surprised to find that some people avoid voting in it for that reason.

EDIT: My vote- I support and will buy.
