I would have thought the beardless dwarven woman would have generated more excitement than the missing Aasimar.

Damn waste of space if you ask me (I am sure you did). They should use that space for something useful - like why the Mule was a gamebreaker in 4e but is allowed in 5e.

I'm holding out hope that the DMG will include shifters, changelings, half-giants, and thri-kreen. If the goal is to introduce races that are unique to certain settings, then those certainly fit the bill.

Thri-kreen are not unique to any one setting. They are mostly identified with Dark Sun, where they gained popularity, but they began in the Forgotten Realms.

Likewise, half-giants began in Dark Sun, but were made fairly generic in the 3e/3.5 psionics books. I don't recall if they were mentioned in other settings or not. Half-giants were later associated with goliaths in 4e.

No aasimar. First real miss with me and this edition. I guess I'll just have to write up my own... again. I think it's hilarious that people think aasimars are "boring" when that is the exact same sentiment I have with Tieflings. I would still want them in the rule book, but I guess the reverse isn't true. Also people mistake being "good" for being nice. Go watch supernatural and take a good long look at the angel hierarchy and actions.

They actually began before FR. They appeared in the 1e MM2 (1983).

I don't get why someone would be mad at the inclusion of something so easy to disallow in your game of you want. I can see people being mad something was not.

Agreed. Dont' like it. Ignore it. No harm no foul. We haven't allowed gnomes or halflings in probably 20+ years. They just don't exist in the campaign world. No dragonborn or tieflings either. None fit the style or feel we play; so we ignore them.

Mearls has mentioned some, but not all, of the Eberron races will be in the DMG.

Let's hope that the same is true for classes. I can't really play 5e in any of my own settings until I have an artificer.
