D&D 5E Does anyone who got an mm at Gencon want to offer up spoilers to us?

Speaking of ability damage, I've been considering replacing the 'hit point maximum reduction' of life-draining undead with Con drain. It seems a lot scarier.

I recall seeing somewhere in this post that certain templates for creatures could be applied to Player-characters. And among them, was a Half-Dragon template. While I recall seeing a way to apply it to monsters on the preview picture that was posted earlier in the thread, does the method for applying it to PCs differ at all? Or is it simply applying the same thing that gets applies to Half-Dragon NPCs?

Wow, that sucks. They might as well include a link to Mouseferatu's monster sorter in the second printing.

It seems like the amazing organization of 3e (with spells) and 4e (with monsters) has, sadly, gone by the wayside.

More directly on topic, I was working on my Favored Soul sorcerous origin, and I have to ask: Do angels/solars/devas/whatever have an aura of menace still in 5e? What does it do?
Thaumaturge, thanks for all the answers in this thread!

They don't. Solars get a legendary action to burst radiant damage, but that's about it for aura like effects. One commonality amongst the angels: you can't lie to them. They have an ability: Divine Awareness: the angel knows if it hears a lie. I think it would even work against glibness.

And it's really my pleasure. I've read much of the book, as it is very readable. But y'all have asked questions to make me look at specifics I've glossed over in my reading. It's nice to be look things up to see how specific mechanics are played out.

I have a question about nasty, shriveled hags. What's their story in the MM? I mean, are they given an origin of how they came to be (e.g. corrupted good fey) or have they "always been"? And are there rules/guidelines for hag coveys?

Thank ye sir.

"Ancient beings with origins in the Feywild, hags are cankers on the mortal world." They are described at various points as: magical, arrogant, immortal, and wicked. They reproduce by snatching babies, eating them, and giving birth to new hags. They will make bargains with mortals, but beware.

And there is a good bit on covens. 3 hags working together, they get a shared spell list (up to 6th level spells) and can make a hag eye, which is like an arcane eye.
