D&D 5E Monster Manual Disclaimer

I'm loving the little easter eggs that they've put in the books. The PHB disclaimer was just as funny. I've also seen that THACO is listed in the PHB index (without a page reference number).
I know it's oft-cited around here as an Easter Egg, but my reading of that THAC0 thing in the index is that it was actually a practical inclusion for old-timers who aren't up to speed on D&D terminology over the past fifteen years. The index entry just reads, "THACO. See attack roll", which is strictly accurate and informative. YMMV.

I can't find it, but I'm pretty sure Mearls admitted somewhere that it was, indeed, an easter egg.

For a bit of fun, go to this link and make sure you click on the included link below the picture each time you go to the next picture.

Huh, that's a very good point. I guess it is both an Easter egg and a practical element.

Agreed. "For those who played twice in 1980 and then hid in a box until 2014, here's what has changed." :)

Seeing them have fun with this stuff makes it exciting (for me, anyway) to see what they have in store going forward because they obviously care enough about it to take the extra time to include it.
