I wasn't expecting this for a while yet, even though they've done their screenings, but it looks like Renegades has just hit Youtube:

Cool. I need to check on how ST Axenar is coming along. They had a bunch of folks from it last year at Houston SpaceCity Con.

Axanar funded for an episodic release, via Indiegogo. They would have needed roughly three times what they got to release it all at once, so I expect that there will be a couple more runs at funding. This is going to result in some serious "Kickstarter Fatigue."

Hmmm. I just got through watching it. I applaud the effort that went into it, but I can't say I enjoyed it particularly. The acting was weak, and though I realise they didn't have a good SFX budget, some of those were pretty bad. That said, the ships were good, and the starship combat from the exterior was more dynamic and interesting than a lot of Trek ship stuff is.

It was good to see Chekov. Man, it's sad to see these guys get old.

I'm definitely looking forward to Axanar.

I have to agree. I was hoping for more, based on the people involved, but it's essentially fan fic. If I think of it as more a proof of concept than a finished product, I feel better about it

Axanar looks to be pretty promising. I don't want to get my hopes up unrealistically, though, because it wouldn't be fair to such a project.

Watched it last night. It felt a bit choppy, and the acting wasn't as good. The plot was kind twisted to follow for why the bad guys were doing the bad thing and how. Like I missed something while I was working and watching.

Due to YouTube, we learned that team had an earlier production called ST: Of Gods and Men. That was better. Set 12 years after the Enterprise B launched with the B's captain, Chekov and Uhura. The tech level shown was a little weird because it was shown using TOS era sets and ships, despite being post Enterprise-B era.

These things aren't perfect, but my wife was pleasantly surprised at how much Trek videos is out there, with the Trek actors even, lending it some "authority" so to speak.

"Of Gods and Men" was definitely the better of the two. I agree that the presentation was rather disjointed and motives unclear. Character exposition was pretty ham-handed, in a role playing sort of way. "My name is [fill in the blank] and this is what I do."

So far my favourite, by a long shot, is "Star Trek Continues." Their production is pretty much bang on TOS, with the same feel in the writing, for the most part.
