D&D 5E Graceful Destruction: A Guide to Dex Based Barbarism

true but i was wondering if there's anything im missing that helps it keep up with them in terms of damage overall- i guess dueling or whatever for the additional +2 could be good, or sneak attack from the rogue, but i'm concerned losing out on damage would result in a much less viable character.

Well, you open up archery, but you close down non-finesse. AC and dex saves go up. Rage usage goes down - only needed for some things like resists. You will take a large DPS hit in a white room. In practice it depends how many turns a melee-only wouldn't get to apply where someone who can do archery and melee can apply damage. It's probably below a fighter built along the same lines in terms of DPS, but with more survivability due to HPs, resists, and eventually unarmored defense.

that sounds about right, i guess with the sentinel feat and what not you could make the survivability worth a lot more to your party too i suppose

It also allows you to go ranged, increasing DPS in certain circumstances.

Did you know that Barbarians make the best snipers?

Heh, sentinel feat dual wielding whips, the only finesse reach weapon. Has a certain sense of style inherent.

Huh, big surprise, I actually planned a character that was a Barbarian 7/Rogue X that uses a Whip and a Shield as a psuedo-tank (with Sentinel). What are the odds?

Simple, they can see the furthest :p

I am of course referencing the Eagle passive power, which allows you to see up to a mile with perfect clarity.

Yup. But there's more to a sniper than weapon range.

Of course Eldritch Blast can be kitted out to have insane reach, possibly more than a mile (son't know, not very good with imperial). Provided of course their DM doesn't let thrm use their familiars eyes (the familiar being closer to the target) to take the shot.

A mile of vision also combos nicely with Observant, being able to lipread from a mile away.
