Meredith and the underwater part

It seems my players just want to grab Meredith for murdering Bergeron. What should happen if they take her back to Flint without stopping the underwater people?

The way it is framed, Xambria looks not as a suspect, but as a victim, who barely escaped Sidhjen in Flint. I guess, your players are not convicted? In my game, Sidhjen was very wary of constables due to party psion beeing able to sense something in Xambria consciousness. The way it actually played out:
  • Sidhjen sees Impossible catching up to Xambria's ship, "Dagger", on the way to Mavisha ziggurat. Abandons Xambria, hides in the ship's captain, convincingly plays a role of confused sailor.
  • constables accompany Xambria back to Flint, then return to ziggurat site. Meanwhile, Sidhjen races up his ship to ziggurat, then kills the crew, prepares the teleportation circle, studies the situation from afar and hides underwater in his thoughtform, right under the "Dagger";
  • party arrives with the aim to investigate Bergeron's shady archeology. Discovers "Dagger", realizes that they were played, but decides that "the creature" teleported back to Flint;
  • party confronts the archeologists, parley, goes back to Flint with Dagger in tow, Sidhjen attacks... it all went more or less according to the written part
  • Sidgjen teleports back to Flint, possesses another constable, releases Xambria and kills the lead. Culmination follows.
Key points:
  • Xambria doesn't yet realize her involvement in the murders. Play her as innocent and pretty scared victim, who would like constables to protect her, perhaps;
  • Gidim warfarer is intelligent. Perhaps the most intelligent enemy until adventure 6. His goals here are to devour brains of archeologists to obtain planar information, not to fight.
  • the portal by itself is not that dangerous, because the subplane of Mavisha, trapped inside, is pretty limited.

My party weren't really thorough after getting back from Bole and first went to Bergeron's to confront him but of course he had been murdered. They followed the trail to Meredith's apartment and she was well gone. I am trying to portray her as a victim, but they got the planar energy on her. I still think they will go underwater.

Well, of course she got the planar energy on her, she was there when the portal to Apet opened. It's not a damning evidence by itself. The question of how much exactly in control is she, or how much Sighjen's consciousness merged with her may be open, if you want for some reason turn her a villain. I'm still toying with the idea that her conciousness, which finds home in one of constables at the end of the adventure, is actually Sidhjen's offspring merely given her memories.
