D&D 5E Multicllass problem..... is he right?

I think this guy is twisting a few rules but not sure. He says he has contacted Wizard about this before. so here is what's going on.
He has a 1/2 ELF LEVEL 1 MONK and just made LEVEL 2 but instead takes the LEVEL as a MULTI class of SORCERER then choices the origin or Draconic to get the base AC of 13 instead of the standard 10. Is this a legit thing? I would think since he is multi classed he would not get that option. What's everyone think?

Why would he not get it?

The important thing to remember is that Draconic Armor and the Monk Unarmored Bonus DON'T stack. His AC can be either:

1) 13+Dex mod
2) 10+Dex mod + Wis mod

Yeah anything that changes your AC calculations doesn't stack. Mage armor, draconic resilience, unarmored defense, natural armor, and more I'm sure don't stack you choose which one to use. If you dip monk with a druid. You can choose the natural AC of the creature. Or redo their AC with dex and wis. You don't just add wisdom on top of current AC.

Reiterated.

I thought that was the most interesting part. IMO.

As others have said, there was a recent sage advice restating what people should already have known- it doesn't stack. You can choose the Sorcerer, or the Monk method of AC, but you can't choose both.
Usually when people say they have contacted x authority its utter BS and just them trying to sound legitimate in there system cheating. Not saying this is the case here, just typically.
