Edward could have used his portent roll of 9 to force the giant to miss on the first attack, but although he is good at foresight, he's not so good at hindsight! So, okay, Paladin takes 52.
I think saving the portent to ruin a spell save may be a more judicious use tbh.Edward could have used his potent roll of 9 to force the giant to miss on the first attack, but although he is good at foresight, he's not so good at hindsight! So, okay, Paladin takes 52.
Yeah. Also, it's a bit late after the rolls to hit and damage have been announced.I think saving the portent to ruin a spell save may be a more judicious use tbh.
Ill take your word on that not familiar with the specifics of the feature. It could be a bit awkward using it given the way where playing.Yeah. Also, it's a bit late after the rolls to hit and damage have been announced.

I wasn't concerned about cheating. It's faster if you roll. A lot of PbP DMs roll initiative for the group because if they don't, it takes quite a few posts just to see what order they go in. If you roll, you post the order and start the action immediately.
Thanks, but let it lie. It will work better in the present scheme of things if we use it proactively on our own rolls, rather than trying to negate enemies' actions. If you had to announce every enemy action and wait for me to say if Edward uses portent on it, we'd be here all year. They aren't great rolls, so it's not going to be very swingy anyway for the purposes of this experiment.Im OK with you using it if you want to.
I wouldnt, but its up to you!
Good point. It's early days and we're still feeling our way with the protocol. I think I'll be cautious and save it for a bit, though. If we get into a knife-edge situation where everything depends on a roll we mustn't fumble, that's the time to use it. Something spectacular!Just make conditions when you would use it. Maybe on an attack when you are low on hp or a saving throw that would do x. Although 9 is good to use on concentration saves to be honest.
