D&D 5E Out of the Abyss OOC

So IG, when Kamaels turn next comes around, would you prefer I let the bonfire expire, so Kago can melee the kuo-toa, or keep it up so we can focus fire on the monitor without being attacked on two fronts? :)

CB, I don't believe you took Raza's movement (post #617) into account when you updated the map.
Thanks for this, and sorry I missed it the first go around. I remember you saying Raza wanted to approach the kuo-toa. I intended to move Raza on the master map, but neglected to follow through. You still want J11?

Re: non-lethal damage: phb p198 when an attacker reduces a creature to 0hp with a melee attack, the attacker can knock the creature out. The attacker can make this choice the instant the damage is dealt.

The spell description does not use the term melee attack so I suspect technically I don't have this option, however it is a physical attack doing physical damage so flavor wise it seems reasonable to allow it, unlike trying, say, scorching ray!
Thanks for the page cite. The entry in my index for non-lethal damage refers me to "Damage," which tells me to look in pages 196-197 (frustratingly). I don't have a problem with maximilian's earthen grasp (MEG) dealing non-lethal damage and rendering a target unconscious. The spell deals bludgeoning damage, so no big deal to have it deal non-lethal. I don't want to make an across-the-board ruling affecting all spells that deal bludgeoning or "physical" damage, however. For now, we'll just keep it that MEG deals your choice, bludgeoning or non-lethal. It makes sense for the situation and Kamael's desire to keep the kuo-toa alive.

Resuming the action in the IC. I nearly missed Kamael's ability to disengage; forgot he'd cast a quickened scorching ray. I'll post for the monitor later today...at lunch, if I've time (not sure), otherwise this evening. Hope everyone's had a jolly Easter? My spouse is a pastor, which makes Easter week both a work week and the busiest work week of the year for my household, busier than Christmas (which is also a work week for us). Now that we're done with Easter, I should be able to resume occasional weekend posting.

If your character has taken damage (currently, everyone but Solace) and you haven't updated your mini sheet in the IC, please do so. Some of you may already have updated, but in case you haven't, I'm mass broadcasting this to all who've taken damage since this encounter began. lowkey13, hope vacation was lovely and that you're returning to work refreshed and ready to go. And that your home and belongings didn't suffer any damage in your absence from exuberant spring breakers gone wild.

Sorry, CanadienneBacon, may I raise a point of order on the earthen hand going out of range? (Hope I got that analogy right? )

PHB p203 says "once a spell is cast, it's effects aren't limited by its range, unless the spell description says otherwise"
In this case, I believe if I used an action to move the hand, it would be to within 30 feet of where I had moved to, but apart from that, the description does not mention range.

Also, you have to have a clear line of sight to target a spell, but I see nothing which says you have you maintain line of sight along with concentration.

Which reminds me, [roll=concentration]1d20+3[/roll] for the damage taken.
