To err is human, to REALLY screw things up requires a computer

Setting

As well, if there is email that you (general you) possess that is world ending should it be lost, keeping it only in one location is not the safest course.

I should also note, that if you have an email that holds something super duper important. Why the smurf didn't you save it as a file and/or print it out?

The point of using gmail (and POP-moving any other accounts like Hotmail to it) is to centralize your receipt and management of all emails such that you are not tied to any ISP and have a reasonobly robust mail server that can be accessed via web, IMAP or mobile client reliably with zero issues when migrating.

While it is very reliable for storage, it is not a bank vault. it is not a safe. It is not suitable as a repository for critical information.

If it is critical, back it up yourself by saving it to a network drive or other removable media. I don't store ANYTHING that I absolutely can't lose on my computer.

Exactly. Something I have seen encountered at work very often. If it is something that important, treat it as such. Copy it, saving it to multiple locations on different devices/servers and ensure some redundancy should the worst happen.

AAAAAAAARRRRRGH!!!!!

I am in tech support HELL!

My verizon email accounts still aren't set up properly, I've been disconnected 3 times today.

Verizon is no help- they just have a recorded message directing you to talk to Frontier. After a couple of weeks, Frontier has told me to talk to AOL. AOL has just told me to talk to Verizon.

I don't know. On the one hand, had in remembered all the family email passwords- last needed 10+ years ago- things might not have turned out this way. And hiccups can be expected when there is a change of ownership.

But this is getting annoying, moreso because this kind of thing has happened to me before.

Have a hug man. It'll be OK.

Like last night's double-cheese enchiladas, this too, shall pass.
