D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

OOC: Jazzy. If that's the case, I'm fine clearing out the rest of this temple before we move on. I've got me a shiny spear, I ain't scared.

Even though the last boss dropped me in 1 attack.

OOC: I agree. People to save, and potential loot to find. Lets clear things out. I'd like to fight off the black aarakocra so we can make friends with the nice valley Aarakocra. I still believe he spire would make a nice base of operations ;-)

To the north:

Several streets converge on a plaza, in the center of which stands a thirty-foot-tall granite statue of Moradin grasping a great stone lantern in an outstretched fist. A bright light emanates from the lantern, revealing ruined shops around the plaza, their inner chambers extending into the rock.

The place looks abandoned.

OOC: Question: as he headed there, did we still hear the music coming from the plaza (played by the black aarakokra? I would't want the group to be attacked from behind.

Dent brandished his shiny new sword in one hand, his shield at the ready in the other, and stalked forward to a niche across the courtyard from the statue. A pair of walls at his back and right side, Dent cozied into position and took a wait-and-see attitude while he looked around.

OOC: Move 35' to K12.

The dwarven statue adjacent to you looks to be in relatively fine condition with a continual light cast upon the lantern.

To the west, this place looks combed over in strange ways.

The freestanding buildings in this part of the city are little more than crumbling shells and heaps of rubble. Deep holes split the cobblestone streets and buildings gape wide open, walls turned to rubble. Motes of dust float in the air, and in the silent gloom something scratches at the stones.

To the north a hallway extends towards another part of the complex.

To the east, you see a building, possibly an old dwarven inn, with a small courtyard.

~ Miles had gathered his gear similarly, the spear Windvane in his hand and resting over his shoulder when he stood next to Dent. Upon seeing the statue, he shuddered involuntarily, pointing at the construct with the tip of his weapon.

" Watch this thing" he warned gravely of the inanimate object, " We encountered something similar on a lower level. It rose to life and nearly crushed us, some type of animated guardian. Hopefully this one truly is just stone."

He walked around the statue, still regarding it as though it may spring into action at any second. When it did not, Miles finally let the air out of his chest. He cast a glance over the tavern, walking over towards it slowly before stopping and turning back towards his companions.

" This looks promising. Shall we investigate? If anything, we may be able to find a good bottle out of it." ~

OOC: Ending movement at N 14

The buildings:

The proprietors of these shops are long gone, but carvings above the doors indicate the owners' former professions: tailor, jeweler, smith, baker. All that remains of these places now are small, rubble-strewn rooms.

The inn:

The worn image of a smiling dwarf on the face of a coin is stamped into the flagstones that pave this plaza. An old sign bearing this same image hangs above the door of a large hall in the center of the plaza.
