This is misleading. The monstrous races that don't get fluff in chapter 2 are the Goblinoids, Orc, Kobold and Yuan-Ti Pureblood. While they don't get fluff in chapter 2. All of them get massive sections in chapter 1 that eclipses any phb race.

True, sorry for the misunderstanding. I meant they don't get a fluff write up in the style of the PHB. But a lot more fluff elsewhere.

NOW super weird? LOL, they've always been pretty weird, looking like a regular sized Danny DeVito's head on a doll.

In 4e they were gnomes who were experimented on by Formorians, till they escaped to the Shadowfell, with the help of Hags, turning purple once there.

And I think they were something else in previous editions. Another retcon. Cool background, but a retcon never the less.

The Xvarts get a retcon (though their story as "clones of a god" seems pretty much like...a Volo-ism. :)), but what I find interesting about their inclusion here is the mention of Raxivort, which is an old Xvart god in Greyhawk. Between him and the snatching of Kyuss, there's a little of FR biting Greyhawk's style here. Laaame.

Greenwood already stole a parcel of Greyhawk gods in the 80's. Not much new in the multiverse.

It's mentioned he is mainly found in Pandamonium and that he travels through tons of material plane worlds depositing his spawn.

Full MM style write up, including a side bar about russet molds. There are three vegepygmy statblocks: the normal ones, a chief, and thorny (a pet/mount)

Woot thank you! I have a section with vegepygmy and russet mold in my current campaign. Very nice.

I keep telling you that FR has just up and consumed the leftovers of Greyhawk at this point :p

I've only looked through it the once, but so far I love this book. Some of those critters are a bit on the weird side (and I like pretty "serious" settings) but overall, a lot of fun.
