D&D 5E Why is WoTc still pushing AP's when the majority of gamers want something else?

Most people who run homebrew also run homebrew adventures and not AP's.

The Adventures are a pretty good way to sell books and get players to enjoy DnD 5th edition. For people who dont have a huge amount of time on their hands to create their own setting and adventures they are a good way to play. The tie-in with Adventure League for casual storerelated play is also there.

While id love a Dark Sun or Eberon source book, these sorts of boos tend to take qiite a bit of work to turn into something that can be used at the table. Besides, someone could take the information and stories.from the 4th edition source books as inspiration.

I think source books will come, but at a slow pace with maybe one per year / one per two years and even then i think they might be combined with an included Adventure for a complete package (source material and something that can be used at the table with little work).

Personally i like source books; just reading through them is already fun for me. However, this is just my taste and most certainly not representative for the majority of players.

Another thing i like is good quality books. I would much prefer fewer books of high quality than many books with much lower quality. The huge volume of 4th edition books prevented me from seeing the books that i would have enjoyed (this was a separate issue next to other issues i had with 4th edition; these issues were however unrelated to the current discussion).

I think at this point Mike & Co. are deliberately choosing things to design that Corpsetaker doesn't like. Trevor Kidd probably has an email alert for any new Corpsetaker thread on ENWorld, and when he gets it, he tells Perkins to start writing a new book. Just to doubly irritate Corpsetaker (a new AP *and* Chris Perkins writing it.)

LOL!

I rather expect that eventually we will get a Dark Sun source book, and that it will be in the form of an AP. I hope so, anyway. Out of the Abyss has been the most useful Underdark sourcebook I've read.

PotA was terrible. Pretty much poorly written, structure, no real treasure, (Orcsplitter was really the best thing in the game), no mechanism to run linearly without searching online (I won't needlessly kill my players in an open world campaign).
The concept was great, the execution was horrible.
It basically served as the framework for what I wanted to accomplish.
My players expressed their great disappointment for this campaign.

Those are single adventure, not adventure paths.
Right.

But we still need to distinguish "adventures" that take you from level 3 to 15 from regular adventures.

That's what Corpsetaker means, so lets mentally replace "adventure path" in the thread.

Adventure campaigns? Mega adventures?

This is a forum dedicated to RPG's. This is not a forum that only acknowledges positive things about RPG's. It is called a discussion forum for a reason.

The amount of people who do run homebrew has everything to do with it. Most people who run homebrew also run homebrew adventures and not AP's. People want to make up their own stories whether it's trough an established setting or one they made up. It's been about Wizards agenda all along because the moment the people's wants don't coincide with Wizard's direct then we see Wizards going in the same direction they planned on going.

Also, who said anything about wanting a big book of crunch? It's funny how this is the default response to people asking for something different. It's like that's the only argument you have.

Actually, when it's the only product out there people will buy it because it may have a few bits they want, or they collect D&D books. Most people would rather have something than nothing.

Where is the data that supports your suppositions?
