Carolina sighs at the sight of the cave entrance. She grabs her pack and nods to Dren. "I guess we're up," she says. She hops off of the cart and quietly makes her way to the cave mouth.

Tranio pats spuds on the back in thanks, and disembarks. "I don't know how long we'll be, Spuds, but you may want to turn your cart around for when we leave."

He smiles, and raises his eyebrows in excitement. "There'll be death inside."

Tranio realizes he has left his war hammer back at the rued village. No matter. He's got the scimitar he found in the goblin body at his side. With a spring in his step, he starts towards the cave.

Legend
Never having enjoyed being underground, Aremus says a quick prayer to Chantea for the memory of open fields to linger in his mind. Then he checks the straps on his shield, stretches his sword-arm, and heads to join his new companions.

“Guess we are,” Dren said with a nod to the halfling. He followed Carolina toward the cave entrance. “D’ye need light?” he whispered. “I’ve go’ torches.”

He didn’t pull the torch out yet, though, pulling a hand axe as he peered into the cave with his dwarven darkvision.

Carolina: The villagers tracks lead straight into the cavern. You also see newer goblin tracks heading out, no doubt belonging to the looters you encountered in Nightstone. Did the villagers take shelter here without realizing it was already occupied? You gaze into the cavern, but can't make out any details. There seems to be a large creature moving about in the distance.

Dren: Your dark vision provides a much better understandings of the dangers ahead. Four goblins on, two aside, patrol ledges above the entrances of the cave. Directly ahead, a large ogre playful splashes around in a mud bath.

Ordar: Your head throbs as the blurry world comes into focus. Where are you? You remember pouring ale when boulders and chaos rained down upon the sleepy village. You, unlike so many of the city watch, kept your cool during the crisis. You ordered the draw bridge down and rallied the peasants while some of those sworn with protecting cowered.

The damned caves. How could you forget? You never wanted to take shelter in them, but the Ardeep Elves refused to help. The three on the road only laughed and pointed their arrows at the villagers. They were thankful to see Nightstone destroyed.

At one time only bats took shelter here. Not anymore. You fought off the goblins as best you could, but then something bigger hit you from behind. Looking around now, it is evident what that was. You currently are tied up, buried beneath a pile of bones. Stalagmites are all around you. creating a natural circular room of sorts. Loud snores come from a sleeping female ogre, only a foot away from you.

OOC: If the goblins in the cave entrance haven't noticed us yet...

"Caves often have chimneys and other entrances. Perhaps we could check around for another way in? The front entrance is often well guarded." whispers Aremus.

OOC: If it's too late he will step in front and protect anyone in the group with his own body as cover (and his shield)

[roll0]

OOC: Now, that's sneaky for a Paladin!

Legend
Aremus slips away to climb around the hillside, seeking another way in to the caves. He'll be happy for company, or for others to go the other way. It would also be good for someone to keep an eye on the main (only?) entrance. He will start on the left of the cave mouth and work left, then upward and clockwise.

OOC: Not sure what is the best way to roll. Here's three possibilities:

[roll0]
[roll1]
[roll2]

Not that good at using deduction. More of a hands-on guy.

OOC:
So, what's my status (obviously unarmed and unarmored) - HP? How can I get out of the bindings? Is there any loose earth in the ring of stalagmites? Can I perform mold earth to create difficult terrain around the sleeping ogress (it has somatic component only and I'm already touching the stone, but depends on what do I need to do? Rune-drawing with bound hands is possible if they are bound in front, hard if they're not. And I'd rather cut the rope - you said there are bones around. Any sharp enough to cut through the rope?

Any goblins around? I'll change the text in my background story tomorrow. Good night.

Investigation +2; Perception +3 if relevant - roll freely

OOC: You have full HP now. The goblins took your weapons, but they did not find your pendant / orb. Your hands are bound behind, but there are many sharp bones and stalagmites to use. The cave floor is very muddy, so mold earth should be possible. You can't see any goblins at the moment, but you're prone and the ring of stalagmites block much of the view. You do notice some morning light pouring in from one direction. You're not very far from the entrance.
