I recently made a 4E monk for my weekly game, and, of course being the DragonBall nerd i am, started wondering if 4E had rules for Ki Blasts/Waves similar in style to DragonBall. I dug though the PHs and didnt notice anything, but i was reading fast. I'd appreciate the info guys!

I have the impression that in-spite of labeling it psionic the Monk is still closer to the original martial class character type than more modern Chi using characters we see in anime. To achieve those archetypes one will probably have to use multi-class or hybriding. Sorceror with Dex based lightning OR some CON based Warlock elements could achieve the results you want. -- > Based on lore arguably Chi is related to CON with a dash of WIS.

Alongside a Martial Artist class I have been considering and for which I have been making martial practices.

I am thinking of making GMTs that might partake directly of the Chi user flavor (with using healing surges and similar effect)

There is a flavor of monk that I forgot which had fire attacks like this fellow

Oh definitely BRUCE does the bad-ass ... i think they should have admitted the monk was Mostly Martial of course.

There are also Themes (I think elemental ones) you might consider that would provide a ranged bolt of some sort.

I got that out of Character Builder but I am not home to look it up (could be Dragon Mag or the Heros of Elemental Chaos)

I think my next purchase will be Heroes of Elemental Chaos, finding myself intrigued by the Themes and now Prince Zuko

Since the PH3 Monk is 'Psionic,' any Psionic close blast power with an appropriate-seeming keyword like force or thunder might do the trick. I assume the Psion would have some.

Not sure how being psionic helps borrow from other classes since in this case no psionic points were abused to make this class were they?
