D&D 5E Hasbro's Goldner - D&D up 50%

Hasbro's Goldner - D&D up 50%

Is there any particular point in comparing how much money is spent of RPGs with, I dont know, anything else?

In other news people buy more coffee then RPGs.

It was a clarification of the scale and a reply to a previous poster. If you’re interested, you’re interested. If you’re not, you’re not. No need for the snotty comments.

So then why do it? Is it to make sure that we know this is not the most popular thing in the world?

Allow me to repeat: there is no need for the snotty comments. Nobody has to defend their reasons for posting to you. Drop it.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I don't think a game needs new things. How well did New Coke work? In fact, that's probably a better analogy than I initially intended. WotC comes out with a new edition (4e), with radical changes on many core ways things are handled, people didn't react nearly as well as the company wanted, so they went back to a tried and true method. Even if there were fans of the new Coke who preferred it over the classic brand.

*Edit* I guess what I'm saying is that when I want to play D&D, I want to play D&D. If I wanted to play something with different mechanics and ideas, I'd play them. IMO, D&D needs to keep pretty true to it's successful core ruleset.

And I am not disagreeing*, you are saying exactly what I am. New Coke failed, people like Classic. But other posters took that little bit of my post (what some of us complain about) and went to somewhere else.

I am saying: some people may not like the "return to classic" or may not like the business model and products or lack thereof. Those are the big complaints I see in regards to 5e. I am not seeing these same people who do not like the "return to classic/product schedule" say 5e is not a commercial success. They may hate 5e, but they are not confusing their lack of enthusiasm for commercial failure. Maybe some are, but I am not seeing it in the threads I'm in.

Hope that clears things up.

* When I want classic D&D, I prefer the original rule sets. But I wanted to make that point down here because I am disagreeing with you in a teeny little way, and did not want to detract from the main point that I totally agree with ;)

Nice to see D&D getting all the loving.

One thing I did notice from that front page ICV2 article, CCG sales were about 750 million dollars. TTRPG sales were 45 million. Yeah, we're a rounding error. :p

And if you think that is a rounding error Hussar then just realise that your Grannie is spending $2.9 billion dollars per year on her needle craft.

FWIW, I apologize if my reply came off as confrontational. I understand what you're saying. :)

I believe I asked for the snotty comments to stop. If you want to demonstrate your superiority by sneering at other people, do it on some other website. Last warning.
