Blackpearl would go mariner if allowed, climb and swim speed in exchange for shield bonus. But I have no problem with protection style except for action cost (reaction)

Would like Lucky feat to attach some meaning to his pearl

Indeed, and I saw you put Champion down as your class, so I figure that must be your archtype you going for. Two attacks both with a possible crit @ 19-20 gives some damage output potential.

Since you won't be using a shield might I point out the feat - Heavy Armor Master, increase STR by 1 and nonmagical attacks dmg reduced by 3. Even though this may not work vs higher lvl NPCs it sure does soak up dmg from high lvl monsters with claws, bites and such. Something that has 3 attacks vs you is already @ -9 dmg

Like I said before the RP potential would be great. Deflecting blows aimed towards Rana one round, then "catching an arrow" aimed at Rebekah the next. Seems like some super RP to me.

I like the Lucky feat represented by the pearl. How much would you hate me if you lost it? So we could have a small side trek of course.

Pearl is the defining characteristic, central to paladin build

Zan-zan would be really upset if he lost it, but wouldn't sacrifice a person for it.

Gwylla in terms of improvements is looking to get as many spells and rituals as possible, focusing on utility. As far as arcane tradition, diviner or transmuter is most likely, and I'm not super sold on any feats, so maybe ASIs at least at 4th and 8th level.
