D&D 5E Pedantic pet peeves

The one that grates every time I see it? When people say "try and" when they mean "try to". That it ever got started is odd, since it makes no sense. Unfortunately it has now become so common that I'll bet someone is going to argue with me about its correctness. It's probably futile to try and change the situation.

Having to remind players of their characters special abilities.

I dont like people telling others how to play but dang, i've seen this to much. Like when the party is getting slughtered by a dragon and they run up and do a normal attack! WTF dude, I know you can rage/smite/flurry or whatever.

Like the saying goes, “if it bites you and you die, it’s venomous. If you bite it and you die, it’s poisonous.”
Did not know that. Now, I can never un-know it. Thanks for adding a peeve to my farm.

I want to scream every time someone uses "dice" as a singular. "Roll one dice." No!
This is one of my top peeves, as well. Unfortunately, I have seen it in a couple of rules books (not RPG or wargames) as well as in at least one video game that made a big deal about having dice visible, on screen.

But this is not medieval fantasy and not every player is a member of the Gentry.

Sent from my SM-T820 using EN World mobile app

Most core D&D IS medieval fantasy, the default weapon/armour/equipment, the image of the Knight in battle, the Castles, towns, cities generally have a medieval feel.. If yours is not, then come up with something a little more flavourful than something from a cheesy 80s Hollywood film...

"Hey guys" is just plain awful.

As a military veteran, this bugs me to no end as well.

As a Blackhawk crew chief, it’s not a chopper. A chopper is a motorcycle. It’s either a helicopter. Or bird. Or aircraft. Or it’s actual designation or name. But not a chopper.
Radar O'riley says you is wrong. Of course he had them landing in the compound when they were landing on the landing pad.
Of course if you paid a chopper grey, does be a greyhawk? Or paint blue to get a Skyhawk. Or paint shark teeth on for skyshark?

(I've never seen the rulebooks do this, thankfully, but players do it all the freakin' time.)

I thought that was a British English thing... (for example, Games Workshop does this in their rulebooks). Drives me nuts too.

Ok speaking of books. Correct but bad Indexes. This for gaming books only. Now I know the standard is to refer to the correct specific name then page number. But Please.
In the Monster Manual which is correct. Courtier see Noble.

I be off in my liar. ring me up. I will be there 10% chance.
