D&D 5E Return to The Temple of Elemental Evil - (full, at the moment)

Hmm, I see now. So a STR type character could throw them just as well as a DEX type one. One of the things that has me a bit put off by 5e is that most characters have the same atk/dmg modifiers no matter what character you play. Guess something I need to get use to, being from the old school I like when my fighters use weapons better than rogues or clerics.

Still going to houserule them as not finesse, but as light. I think a STR type warrior wouldn't go around throwing darts, but may throw a dagger or two. I also think this way you could re-skin the darts to be shuriken (which you could throw two in a round).

Let's try it and see what happens.

Yeah the only thng that makes Fighters better at combat is more feats.

Swaps
Infestation for Shillelagh (Xanathar's guide) - more of a Rana spell and distance atk also
Protection from Evil and Good for Unseen Servant
Mind Spike for Witch Bolt
Good suggestions, although I think I'll keep Witch Bolt and skin it as Spider's (magic-enhanced) poisononous bite :)

Infestation is *very* nice, thematically speaking, but the save+random aspect is making it a bit <eh> in terms of utility, I think.. Would she be able to reclaim Shillelagh once she can learn a 'new' cantrip?

If you do that, you're going to seriously gimp monks, who start with 10 darts and use Dex as their attack stat. You have basically removed the only range option they have, unless they buy a bunch of daggers. If it really means that much to you, you can make it light and finesse. The stats are essentially the same as a dagger anyway, barring weight and cost.

So darts still give DEX as the attack stat being range weapons. So they should still be usable by a monk, just now they can throw two instead of one a round correct, or what am I not seeing. Remember I have only been playing 5th since June.

No (on getting the cantrip back), I was thinking that Shillelagh doesn't help because of the poor HP the die roller seems to wish for you to have.

Please let me know once Rana is ready for a check up. lol
