I know I am starting to appreciate the Queen more as in theory she can remove crappy leaders from power.

Come on man, it will only be another couple of months and she will be off on maternity leave - no need for the Queen to kick her out this early in the innings.

There are a ton of societies that have high levels of intolerance that are not fascist. Are Communists, for example, exemplars of tolerance? Religions are pretty high up on the intolerance list but are you giving them a pass?
No. Also no.

You asked if I thought she should passively sit back and take it. That entire paragraph was limited to options from her end and many of the considerations I felt may be running through her mind. I know they were running through mine.

And, yes, a Catch-22 is exactly what this situation feels like when you're in it. If you do nothing, they walk all over you. Do something... Well, we've all heard the stories of people getting their identities revealed and finding all kinds of nasty surprises in who calls them and what arrives in their mailboxes. So to a certain degree, relying on the protection of being a face on a screen doesn't feel so safe anymore. And asking someone else... My god, how the :):):):) do you ask someone else to put their own life and family in this kind of danger? Not to mention the feeling of giving up, of losing that independence and power that defined who you are and your strength.

And I notice that, with all of your replies, you have presented no better answer than I have. You present no advice for her. All you do is try to twist my words to make yourself feel better. Not to mention the fact this makes the second time I have caught you outright lying. Generosity? Pull the other leg; it has bells on.

So tell me, what's your answer on what she should do? Or are you just full of :):):):)?
You are talking about misogyny and trolling - still - like it's an inevitable thing that just floats around in the air, like pollen.

What should she do? Whatever she wants to do. And the folks who care should vocally and forwardly support it.

What should we do? Be vocal and unambiguous in our support and don't be timid about confronting the trolls. Like I just said, they want to control the conversation. Do not cede that control. You are basically saying "doxxing and harassing and death threats work! they have successfully cowed us into non-confrontation."

Exactly, so now Mearls can say what he wants and has to accept the consequences.

He just did.
He wants sexist manchilds to stop using mechanics as a means of keeping people out of the hobby, and for them to find another game.
The consequences? I'm lauding him for saying it.

How about you?
Would you rather have Dungeons & Dragons continue to be associated with just men and a haven for intolerance and sexism? Or would you prefer women to be able to play as well and feel welcome at game tables and D&D communities?
Because, frankly, those two are pretty much mutually exclusive. And while not all men are sexist, very few women want to spend time with people who degrade them and look down on them.

I had to think this one over a bit. I don't mind the current prime minister (I voted for her lol) or the last 3 we have had even the ones I did not vote for.

None of our leaders have been that bad where the governor general should have got involved and fire them. The bad leaders we have had have been more incompetent than evil for example.

I thought he was persona non grata at the moment? Or was that so 2017?

Not sure, he said something stupid to a female from the sounds of it b ut it doesn't mean he is wrong about making a 36 level D&D (anything over 20 is excessive IMHO and I can see arguments for level 10 and 14 as cut offs).

I'm talking about it like that because doxxing and the resulting threats are very real issues women face online. And no amount of "I'm going to do what I want to do, screw them!" is going to stop that icy lance of fear from going through your veins the first time one of those trolls emails you a picture of your house. Or calls you on the phone. And for some women that is enough to make them question if, maybe, confrontation is the worse option.

And, I noticed that you still did not answer the question. You said "what she wants to do." What if she considers the very same concerns I posted, the ones you called "supporting mysogyny," and decides the threat of doxxing is enough that she doesn't want to confront them? Do you still support her then? Will you be vocal in supporting her lack of confrontation? Be forward about supporting her being, as you put it, cowed into non-confrontation?

How about you give a real answer?

And I am think he should just stick to what he knows like designing new initiative systems and thinking up new names for the Psionicist for example.

Frankly I think that the guy who designed a game that uses three 300+ page books should look in the mirror before he complains about other people using rules as a gatekeeper.

I just dont even.

He told a rape victim it was her fault she was raped.
And apparently he also threatened to blacklist a female designer from tha gaming industry because she was rude to him (while he as victim shaming).

Kinda a few steps beyond stupid.

Well Winnie is coming soon so the GG may have to dust off his twitter account. That is how we fire people now, right?

I knew about the 2nd one, not the 1st. Still doesn't invalidate his opinion about level 36 IMHO, I just won't support him financially with any of his future work. Consequences;).
