D&D Beyond Krakens

I remember the Kara-Tur Monstrous Compendium had a monster called the Krakentua which was a massive humanoid with a squid-head, back when Kraken were nothing more than an intelligent Giant Squid.

That monster in 5e is probably just a Kraken with a faster walk speed that can hover off the ground.

Good timing for my campaign!

Its almost like there's been a surge of interest in aquatic campaigns lately.

I hope they start releasing books for 5th edition that revolve around specific environments again, such as the 3.5 books Stormwrack, Frostburn and Sandstorm. Those books often contain a wealth of ideas for campaigns.

Often it feels like aquatic opponents are a bit of an afterthought in D&D, but you can build entire campaigns around the theme of water alone.

Oh it's just what comes through the gate if they let the bad guy complete his plans :D
