Thadius moves into the former library, straight towards the goblin chief seated at the improvised throne, and before the startled creature has time to shout, the tiefling’s morningstar hits it on the side of its head. A spray of blood stains the overstuffed chair as Chief Krig scrambles to get out of Thadius’ way. With an obvious lisp the goblin starts commanding its underlings, two of whom start for the intruder who injured their leader.

One goblin just points at the tiefling and yells something in obvious awe, and does not move.

The other goblin heads for the door, where Magdalena is waiting for it.

The captive goblin, unarmed but seeing an opportunity, ducks to get out of Gorir’s reach and attempts to flee the scene.

OOC: Alright, surprise round over. Please roll initiative if you haven’t yet done so, and state your actions for this round.

Can’t make a map as I am away from computer, but the setup is easy enough.

“How convenient,” Magdalena said as one of the goblins rushed toward her. She swung with dagger at the creature, skewering it in the throat. She strode into the room to the next goblin and swung her torch, though the creature proved too nimble, and danced away.

Well they were committed now, not that Gorir minded that much - he wasn't keen on trusting a goblin.

"Moradin stiùireadh!" he yells brandishing his shield for all to see.

When the two goblins charge forward to protect their chief, Thadius turns nimbly and swings his mace at one opponent. It misses, but the advancing goblins, expecting an easy target, slow down and cautiously circle the tiefling noble.

Chief Krig moves behind the makeshift throne, grabbing a shiny rapier that was lying there, and starts barking more orders while staying out of reach of Thadius.

Magdalena sees the lone goblin coming, and with the ease of long years of practice, quickly cuts down the creature with a perfectly executed move with her dagger. She then moves into the room, swinging her torch at the goblin that stood staring at Thadius. The creature ducks away from the flames, its attention now on the lady paladin, and it seems to regain its focus as a cruel grin appears on its wretched face.

James shoots his crossbow bolt, but the goblin he was aiming for now duelling with Magdalena moves to its left unexpectedly, causing the bolt to hit nothing but a bookshelf across the room.

Gorir, letting the unarmed goblin escape, calls on Moradin to bless him and his allies in this fight against the sworn enemies of his people, and immediately he feels the divine power rush through his body.

The goblin Magdalena is facing takes a few stabs at her with its scimitar to test her defenses, then makes a powerful thrust at her flank. She sees the attack coming and easily sidesteps, seeing an opening in the poorly trained creature’s defenses.

Meanwhile, the two goblins are flanking Thadius and keep hitting the tiefling with minor but painful hits on his arms, legs and torso. So focused on these two, Thadius never sees the quietly moving Krig come out from behind the throne until it is too late.

A startled outcry erupts from the tiefling noble, quickly turning to a gurgle as blood fills his mouth. The chief’s fine rapier sticks out of his chest for a moment before Krig withdraws the weapon from Thadius’ back, and the noble falls down in front of the throne.

OOC: Thadius is down! 0 hitpoints, please make a death save on your turn (with Bless).
