I didn’t say he was an expert because he’s popular. I said he’s an expert because he’s put the time and work (way more than most people) in who happens to also be highly regarded.

Apparently you don’t think so. Nor a lot of powergamers. But to be frank, who cares? Power gamers don’t make up the majority of gamers. Quite the minority actually. And since this thread isn’t about power gaming only (for shame the idea that the world doesn’t revolve around powergamers!), his expert opinion has value.

I didn't say anything about power gamers.

Putting time into something doesn't make you an expert.

We consider people experts when they demonstrate expertise. We don't just say 'oh, you've spent a lot of time thinking about this subject, the things you say must be right then'.

That is a terrible way to go about who you can trust and learn from.

Putting a lot of time and effort studying and working with something literally does make you an expert. We even have a scale for people who do that in the form of various degrees. He seems to have put more time and effort into this subject than anyone else I’m aware of. If he’s not an expert, who is? Especially since he has demonstrated expertise. More than anyone else on this forum anyway, which is why I’d give his opinion more credibility than some random poster. Which is my point.

I don’t know why you’re on this mission to discredit the guy just because you don’t agree with him, but by metrics we use, even those you talk about yourself, he’s one of the leading experts on evaluating various spells/feats/classes, etc.

I also called it the doorstop trick... pretty sure it doesn't need to have a knob :)

Yeah but it started when they said;
...
My fighters block choke points if those are available. ...

Your response was;
ten foot wide door and poof.. goblins swarm over the squishies...

As if 10' wide doors somehow negates the strategy of blocking chokepoints if available. 10' wide doors are strange, most doors are 3' or less, it's enough room to drive a truck or and elephant through. 10' wide "openings" are not rare, but they are barely chokepoints when dealing with a few combatants. It takes 2 medium creatures more or less to effectively block it well.

It is pointing out that it takes a rather narrow space to be effective (ie the choke point is pretty situational) when 1 person cannot really do anything to block the enemies because of a few extra feet they become a minor speed bump not a blocker.

I think we can call it a tactic (taking along them Caltrops is a Strategic choice)

A rather narrow space, like a garage door, or a hallway, or a stairway, unless of course there is more than one creature doing the blocking.
