Searing Smite in 5e was an optional spell for Rangers. It's mainly a Paladin spell. They actually lost at least one spell - Searing Smite, which was buffed in the new rules, used to be a Ranger spell, now it is no longer on their list.![]()
Which book is the Healing Elixir spell from?nah, it was healing elixir i was thinking of, i looked it up afterwards

I think people want a real combat beast@Minigiant hey what about this for a pet:
You learn Find Familiar, it’s your favored spell, etc etc. You do not have to pay the component cost unless you cast it as a ritual.
Your familiar has HP equal to twice your ranger level, and can attack, using your Spellcasting attack modifier and dealing 1d6 plus your wisdom modifier damage on a hit. You can spend a spell slot and concentrate as if on a spell for up to one hour to give the familiar a bonus to damage and to HP equal to 1d6 per spell level.
This way there is a use for the concentration stuff, and a die for it to upgrade at higher levels, without nerfing FF the rest of the time.
just on a personal level, i do not care about having a combat companion, i like find familiar more for the scouting and eavesdropping purposes.I think people want a real combat beat

I guess. I think tbh people will be fine with a pet that doesn't die immediately but isn’t a combat resource really, for the first two levels.I think people want a real combat beat
A custom 1st level spell that conjures a CR 1 bear seems fair.
That's black bear, direwolf, giant hyena, giant octopus, giant spider, giant toad, lion and tiger.
Yeah even I am happy to have that for a couple levels and then use BM or a higher level spell to have a beefier combat pet.just on a personal level, i do not care about having a combat companion, i like find familiar more for the scouting and eavesdropping purposes.
