Long ago. Have you seen his twitter? And more specifically, he sings to the same loonie tune as Disney crew (the source of that image). Should they sing it together… well, it's reasonable to expect the result will not be suddenly and drastically different.
There is nothing I like more than when creators go after fans (sarcasm). I very often agree with the politics of the creators but I find it very distasteful because many of my friends have opposite politics from me.

Lucasfilm has become notorious for this. Its sad to see Mike Mearls take a shot at fans that love his games.

She Kills Monsters has had some success, so why not a musical?

So, I will now make the mistake of taking the subject seriously.

"She Kills Monsters" is not a play about D&D. If is a play about a woman who learns about her dead sister, through the vehicle of her dead sister's campaign materials. It is a show about loss, and about how little you can know about your loved ones.

This is the thing about shows - whatever genre they are, they need to reference honest, relatable human stories. A show about D&D would flop. A show that uses D&D as a vehicle for some solid human story might succeed.

So, what real human story do you think they should tell?

I think we should lean into the fantastic and dramatic aspects of D&D and make an operatic musical. After all what was Wagner's Ring Cycle? "Hamilton" shows us that people still enjoy great songs on a stage. "Game of Thrones" shows us that people can actually enjoy fantasy. I think "Galavant" is mildly amusing, but I would prefer more than a mockery of fantasy with poor singers and songs.

Or look at the Disney musicals.from this decade: Tangled, Frozen, Moana...all fantasy.

I wouldn't say that I want a "D&D Musical" so much as I would love a good Musical with fantasy themes, and a D&D setting would be nice.

Also, this exists:

The only thing that could be simultaneously better and worse than a Broadway D&D play is a Broadway D&D play collaboratively authored by everybody on EnWorld.

Show about 'The Saga of Drizzt: The Musical'? Complete with someone in a costume from CATS as his panther with the name I can't spell?
