Adisakti responds, “I will go with you, Vittero can take the other side.”
Spreading out through the trees, the crew gets a better look at their targets. These men, all are men, and appear to be a squad of armed priests rather than Kingdom Regulars. Moving back and forth among the trees, it is difficult to be absolutely sure of the number, but it appears to be about 20. They are easy to track, however, since they are all garbed in white surcoats, bound at the waist with a wide belt. The back and front of each tabard is emblazoned with the image of the shining sun. Each man is strapped at the waist with a short, double-edged sword.
From the party’s current position, the charge would hit the enemy line about center of its right flank or it can be allowed to pass further along and overtaken from the rear.

Keep of the Rising Sun
Maka says, "I think we should hit them from the rear, so that it will take the ones in front longer to react and respond. When you charge, Adi and I will shoot from the left side."
Maka will use The Way to obscure himself before beginning the assault.
Raven Elk looks at Taylar and. with a surprisingly (disconcertingly?) wicked grin, nods in agreement, fully ready to perform an "Attaque par derriere".
He picks the closest cleric at the rear of the line and uses Way to generate a sou d attack using a high pitched frequency that pier as through the brain, causing sonic damage.
Maka and Adi bend the shadows to further conceal themselves and they quickly, yet quietly close range on the squad of warrior clergy. Maka pauses at short bow range to fire an arrow while Adi continues on to launch a javelin.
Maka and Adi both launch missiles from a surprise position but are unable to capitalize on the advantage, the arrow and javelin failing to penetrate some armor under the emblazoned surcoat.
Taylar begins running in an arced path toward the rear on the line barreling straight at the man on the left at the rear of the line. The man turns, brandishing his buckler and drawing his short sword to defend himself.
The acolyte manages to get his buckler in the way of the incoming blow, saving him from harm but severely damaging the shield. He returns attack but it poses no threat to Taylar.
Just as Raven Elk stabs at the other opponent at the end of the line, he shakes his head as if pained from something only he can hear, his woolen armor protecting him from the following spear thrust.
Even before everyone else begins to move, Vittero circles far around to the left to approach from the far flanks, the shadows coalesce around him like they would for Maka and Adi as he runs. He fires on an unsuspecting foe in the middle of the line, but only manages to wing him.
The clergy who have not yet physically attack all state the same mantra, “Surrender to the Light. Let the radiance guide you.” It is obvious to the Outliers that these men are attempting to manipulate Way lines in order to alter an enemy’e manner of thinking, but their effectiveness is much too restricted to be of any effect outside the range of touch. It appears that they are unaware of this limitation.
The two fighting Taylar and Raven Elk continue to pursue melee. The others merge to form ranks but as yet do not see any other enemy.

Keep of the Rising Sun
Knowing that the priests are fond of corded cloth armor, Maka has the idea to set that armor on fire; rather than focusing on his opponent directly, he will choose the indirect approach. Maka knows that if he can burn away the armor, he can turn the priest into a pincushion. For extra measure, he takes a piece of flint from his belt pouch, knowing that the flint will augment his manipulation of heat.
